Hello! Welcome to another instalment in The Music To The Story Of My Life series! This week Lianne who blogs over at Mrs Mummy Harris is telling us all about the music that would feature in a film of her life, and the reasons why.
About Mrs Mummy Harris
I initially started my blog as I was suffering with PND after the birth of my firstborn Benjamin. I felt very lonely and felt like people had hidden the truth of what parenthood was really like from me so I wanted to let other first time parents to know the ugly truths behind parenting.
Now I am a mother to Matthew and Lucas, my twin boys, my blog has taken a slightly different turn. I try not to dwell too much on the ugly side of parenting, but remain honest and let people know that it is all part and parcel of parenting, there are highs AND lows!
Eternal flame – The Bangles
This was the soundtrack to my childhood, as a toddler apparently I was obsessed with the song. I don’t have a specific memory, but know that I always have a warm feeling when I hear this song. It is a good one – just not the Atomic Kitten version!
In the air tonight – Phil Collins
If any of you are regular readers of my blog you’ll know that I haven’t spoken to my Dad in years, however, this is the one happy memory I have of him. Sitting in his car with this song on and him drumming on his steering wheel when the drums kick in…. Even now I’m filled with warmth thinking of it!
Dirty Diana – Michael Jackson
This was our first song as a couple which all stems from a night out in Camden when we were actually still friends! There was a bunch of us heading out that night but we were that pair in the corner listening to music on his phone sharing headphones. This song came on and he started dancing in his seat to it. Even now I can picture his face and I can’t stop beaming at the memory!
Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
This song started to follow me and Hubby after the first year of dating. It was literally everywhere we went and on everything we watched. We took it as a sign and made this our first dance at our wedding.
Paint your target – Fightstar
This is quite possibly my favourite alternative song by one of my favourite bands of all time, it always gets my foot tapping and I just love this tune!
Shout out to my ex – Little Mix
This is the first song Ben loved and every time we hear it we think of him immediately!
Bring me sunshine – Morcambe and Wise
This song reminds me of my Grandad as it was played as we left his house through his funeral procession. My uncle played it on my Grandad’s trumpet and me and my sister just couldn’t stop sobbing.
With my Nan’s death recently, this song has been playing in my head and I’m so glad they’re reunited after three long years apart.
Worm at the bottom of the garden
This is the only song that settles the twins to sleep. However only when I sing it to them!I would not imagine this being a good lullaby but hey ho! If the twins like it then what the hell!
Waffle Doggy
This is a CBeebies programme that Ben likes. He had a thing over Christmas about watching anything with dogs and cats on and now Ben has a guitar, he loves to play his guitar to this.
Worth it – Fifth Harmony
This is the first song Ben ever heard, therefore this will always remind me of him. It came on whilst we were sitting in the bedroom next to NICU where we were staying overnight with an aim of taking him home the next morning.
He seemed to notice the song and perhaps they were the reason he loves music so much today?

Music is so emotive. There are a few albums that always take me back to the school run and happy times being a young mum xx #TriumphantTales
Quite the selection … amazing how music can mark out a life, or lives! #TriumphantTales
Jaki and Lianne, I always enjoy these music posts. (Love Phil Collins’ voice. Had to listen to the whole song!) I’m not participating in the link parties with the new inlinkz, but wanted to stop in and visit some of my favourite bloggers anyway! Hope you’re having a cosy February!
Waffle dog song once heard gets stuck with me all day lol X #triumphanttales
Eternal Flame was one of my fave 80s ballads and I love how you’ve got Little Mix and Fifth Harmony in there too. With a teenage daughter, I’m quite a fan of the younger acts and songs too x #TriumphantTales.
Really varied selection – love Goo Goo Dolls but Waffle Doggy?? I’m going to be humming that for days now 😂😂😂 #triumphanttales
