Water pressure is a luxury that everyone enjoys. There is nothing more frustrating than having the whole house suffer from it. Sometimes it’s even worse when it’s just at one or two of your water sources. Luckily there are some good places to start in getting that water pressure up yourself for cheap if not free. If all else fails there’s always one way to guarantee a good jump in pressure, it just cost a bit more but is still cheaper in the long run.

Before we get into all the hassles of exploring all the unknowns of your plumbing there is always the more ideal option and that’s just calling your local plumber. Plumbers have many tools that are wildly expensive or hard to get ahold of. But it all really comes down to have much of your time you have to spend on it.
The Free and Cheap Stuff
Look for Leaks
Without ripping into walls, the only way to truly search for leaks when you don’t see water is to turn off everything that makes a noise and listen in every room that water runs to and from. To check your water main all you need to do is turn off all your water, turn off the water to your house, then check your meter. After a couple hours check your meter again. If there’s an increase, then your main is leaking.
Open the Water Valve
Another quick and free thing to go through is to check your water valve which is always connected to your water main. If it twists open more, then someone turned it down.
Water Regulator and Pressure Gauges
This regulator can be found at your meter if you use public water. If it goes bad, then your pressure begins to drop. Replace it or call a plumber. It would also behoove you to get yourself a water pressure gauge and check every water exit in your house.
Clean the Pipes
Now I don’t mean pull them apart and clean them. I mean get a good solution to get those clogs removed from your pipes. This is a common issue for most homes as it isn’t a common thing to think about. You put a gas solution in your tank of gas to keep those pipes clean, your water pipes need it too.
The Bang for Your Buck
If you still don’t want to call that plumber and everything else is in the green, then you still have one more option. Simply buy and install a water pressure booster pump. More often than not if you suffer from bad pressure it’s only because of the distance your water has to travel and gravity itself.
Conclusion
Fixing your water pressure can easily be a chore, but in the long run, it could save you a ton of frustration and money. That isn’t to say don’t call your plumber if you don’t think the work you would do is worth it. By all means, do, just know that there are free and cheap options to get that job done.
