8 Wedding Planning Tips and Tricks

It’s seven years since I got married – quite unbelievable. I loved planning my wedding and as the wedding season is upon us, I thought I would share with you my top ten wedding planning tips and tricks. Hopefully, they may help take some stress away and put your mind at rest, if you are in the midst of preparing for your big day.

Go dress shopping with an open mind

You may think that you know exactly what kind of dress you want for the big day. Many of us have been dreaming about it since we were little, but I suggest you go shopping with an open mind. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but when I arrived and starting browsing the rails, I decided I didn’t really know at all. Needless to say, I ended up with something totally different to what I envisaged.

Think of your bridesmaids – not everyone suits the same style dress

When it comes to your bridesmaids, please think about them. We are all different shapes and sizes and whilst you may have a vision of what you want your ladies to look like, remember that what you like may not be comfortable for them. Talk to them prior to shopping so that you are all on the same page on the day. They need to be comfortable and confident on the big day too.

Shop around for bridal party gifts – try and get something a little unusual

Bridal party gifts can be quite tricky to buy, we all have different tastes. Take a look at the wedding shop for ideas if you are struggling and think about who you are buying for, will it really be useful for them, or are you buying it for the sake of buying something?

Delegate jobs

You have a bridal party for a reason. Make use of them and delegate jobs, both on the day and leading up to it. They will likely be only too happy to help.

Don’t try and please everyone – it’s your day

Table planning isn’t always a fun job. But don’t try and please everyone. It’s your day and if guests have issues with each other they should be expected to put them aside for one day.

Do whatever makes you comfortable the night before

If you don’t want to spend the night away from each other the night before, don’t feel you have to. It’s your wedding, your rules. Don’t feel you have to follow tradition.

Take time out for yourselves on the day

This is so important and the best advice I was given. The day goes so fast, but please make sure you get away for ten minutes alone time together, to take it all in. You won’t get this day back!

Don’t sweat the small stuff

You might think that the weather is a huge factor, and whilst we all want beautiful blue skies in our wedding photos, it’s not always possible. It’s the one thing you have no control over so stop worrying about it.

Wedding planning is so much fun if you just learn to relax and enjoy it – so do just that.

Great tips! My husband and I got married in our local city hall surrounded by family. It was a small affair, cost us less than £1,000 in total, and it was perfect! Thanks for joining in with #ThatFridayLinky
