Is it just me or is duty free shopping all part of the holiday and airport experience? If I’m honest, I have been known to ‘accidentally forget’ to pack something in my makeup bag so that I have a legitimate excuse to go and have a mooch around duty-free! There goes that excuse for next time!
There’s something about tax-free shopping that not only makes you feel good because you’ve managed to bag something that little bit cheaper, and it’s nice to know you’re off on your holidays or coming home with a bargain.
Duty Free Shopping Tips
There are a couple of things to remember though if you are planning on doing a bit of shopping before or after your holidays. Hopefully, these tips will help you!
- Do your research before you go. Particularly if you are interested in picking up your favourite perfume or aftershave. Check out the prices of the different sizes available online and in store and make sure that you definitely can’t get it cheaper. There’s nothing more annoying than getting home and finding out it wasn’t that much of a bargain after all!
- Don’t spend a fortune on electronics before you go. Have your headphones seen better days? Get them from the airport. They’re likely to be significantly cheaper there than anywhere else.
- On your way home and have some room in your hand luggage? Think ahead and get Christmas or Birthday savvy! I’m sure the recipient will love that you have given them a thought during your holiday!
- Whilst I’m not one to encourage drinking – most of us like a little tipple every now and again. Alcohol is up there as one of the most heavily taxed items, so picking up your favourite bottle is a no brainer. Let the holiday carry on for a little longer when you’re home – just don’t forget that it’s likely to be back to work soon!
