Spring is on its way and with it comes the desire to go out for the evening as opposed to spending cosy evenings indoors through the Winter. So with that in mind, read on for my top tips for the best night out – including how to stay safe.
Manage your expectations
Sometimes you can look forward to a night out so much that it can end up being a disappointment. The best thing to do is to not hype it up so much. Despite this sounding a little pessimistic, it can be the best way to manage your expectations. That way, if the night doesn’t quite go how you planned, you aren’t too disappointed. And besides, you will have other nights out to look forward to in the future.
Stay safe
Sadly we live in a day and age where we have to be extra cautious on a night out. Please, always keep your drink with you – even when you go to the toilet. It’s not worth leaving it anywhere in case it gets spiked. Go for bottled drinks where you can and keep your finger over the opening. Only purchase drinks from proper bars and not other people, and look after your ID (check out some fake ID videos here) so you’re always able to purchase sensibly. It might sound over the top but it’s a good habit to get into.
Don’t go anywhere alone if you can help it. Take at least one friend with you – safety in numbers and all that. If you ever feel uncomfortable in a situation, say something. It may feel awkward but if it keeps you safe then it’s worth it.
Finally, think about your travel. If you are going to go all modern and get an Uber, make sure your trusted contacts are set up. If you didn’t already know, the Uber app lets you set up to five trusted contacts so that your friends and family can track your whereabouts. You can also contact the emergency services via the app. Uber currently has 75 million riders and 3 million drivers globally and certainly seems to be the future. Make sure you make the most of their safety features.
Budget!
Nobody wants to go on a night out and find themselves skint when they wake up. Make sure you budget your night accordingly and have enough money to get yourself home at the end of the night. If you are going out for food before drinks, make sure you have ample. It’s wise to use cash so that you don’t get debit card happy – it’s easy to spend when you can’t see it! Put money in a separate part of your purse for your taxi home and be sensible with what you spend.
By following these tips, you should have a great night out. Just remember to drink a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink so as to keep you hydrated. Nobody wants the Mother of all hangovers the next day, do they?
Have a great night!

The first time I ever went out as in to a nightclub was last month on my 26th birthday, I kinda liked that I was newbie to the situation, reason why I’ve never been out before is because I don’t drink (exceptions to that nigh) but I never got drunk just a little tipsy haha #triumphantTales
Preparation is key and also staying safe should be priority when ut comes to having a good night out X #triumphanttales
So sad that we have to think about safety. Great tips! #TriumphantTales
I absolutely agree about not overhyping a night out, even if it is one you’ve been looking forward to. Some of the best nights I’ve had have been somewhat impromptu. #TriumphantTales
Sensible tips and like your emphasis on safety and money management. Also isn’t it amazing how we can have the best night out when we are least expecting it. I think the best tip for me at the moment would be to leave my older husband at home as he always wants to come home before I do and hates going back to friends’ houses whereas I love it. Also I have learned to watch my booze levels as it seems as I get older it hits in a totally different way so better safe than sorry #TriumphantTales
Very nice tips. Thanks for sharing them. #TriumphantTales
expectations is the key here and sticking to your budget #triumphanttales
Excellent tips here. If only I could get out now for a night out! #triumphanttales
