It’s no secret that when you are in a long term relationship, it is important to keep the spark alive. It’s important to make sure that you set time aside in your busy lives for each other. This isn’t always easy, throw some kids into the mix and possibly a lack of funds and it can sometimes feel like you might struggle to do anything. But there are options that don’t cost the earth and things that you can do without you even leaving the house. Read on for ideas for a date night on a budget.
Cook a meal together
You don’t have to go to the fanciest restaurant to enjoy a nice meal. Take a look at some cookbooks or some recipes online and then go and get your ingredients from the supermarket and cook the meal together. There is something quite therapeutic about preparing the meal together. Not only does it take the pressure of one half of the couple but it’s a lovely thing to do together. You may even find that you enjoy it that much you want to make it a regular thing.
Replace a cinema night with Netflix
So you want to watch a film? You don’t have to go to the cinema. For the cost of one cinema ticket, you could have access to over 15,000 titles with a monthly Netflix subscription. According to Netflix, they have over 139 million paid memberships in over 190 countries, so you will be in very good company. And of course, they don’t just offer films, there are countless box sets available to watch too – you will be spoilt for choice. Cable TV and subscriptions services are a great way to have date nights every night of the week!
Game nights!
Game nights could be whatever you want them to be. You could go traditional and dig out Monopoly or you could get competitive on the PlayStation or Xbox. Combine this with your meal cooked earlier and you will have had lots of time spent together in the comfort of your own home.
Have a Spa night
Who says a trip to the spa has to be expensive? Are you in desperate need of a back rub? Exchange it for a foot rub for your other half. Light some candles, put on some relaxing music and just enjoy the time together. Talk to each other without the distractions of your smartphone or the television.
So you see, there really is no excuse to not spend time together. If you are both busy, schedule it into your diary. It doesn’t have to be every week, even just one night a month is better than nothing at all. It really doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you do it together – that’s the important thing.
