The Mummy Tag

I’m secretly pleased I’ve been tagged to do this one. It’s been a while since my last ‘tagged’ post and I love reading other bloggers answers to this one and now I finally get to do it! Thank you to the lovely Sarah from Run Jump Scrap! for nominating me!

Without further ado. Here goes…

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?

I’m both. I work part time which consists of 9.30am until 1pm, Monday to Friday. My afternoons and weekends are spent with the little fella.

2. Would you have it any other way?

If you’d have asked me this three years ago I would have said yes, but now, no, I don’t think I would. The time at work gives me the break that I think we both benefit from and then when it’s time to go home I’m ready to be ‘Mummy’ again.

3. Do you co-sleep?

We’ve never set out to but there has been the occasion – when Ethan’s been poorly, or just can’t settle, or he’s up before the lark, then we have. Ultimately so that we can all get some kind of sleep. I don’t believe it to be a major issue, so long as it’s not so regular that the child becomes used to it. It’s important that they understand that they have their own bed.

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?

Sleeping bags – without a doubt. Ethan would never have kept a blanket over him, he was such a fidget – and still is. They were a God send!

5. How many kids do you plan on having?

Ahhh, this question! Usually it’s phrased as ‘When are you having the next one?’ Well my answer to both is… I don’t know! We are in no rush and we still don’t even know if we’ll have another. Admittedly we need to make the decision within the next couple of years – I’m sadly not getting any younger, but at the moment we love our little family as it is. But we shall see. Never say never!

6. Date nights? How often do you have them?

Erm… what’s a date night?! We rarely get them to be honest. We rely on our parents to have Ethan in the mornings when I’m at work so I never like to ask them to babysit in the evening as well. We do get out occasionally, for birthdays etc but that is about it. Having said that I’m dragging the hubby to a gig on Wednesday and we will need to eat before, so I guess you can call that a date, right?!

7. Your child’s favourite show?

Oh we’ve been through them all. From Mr Tumble to Peppa Pig. From Fireman Sam to Mr Bean, but at the moment his favourite is probably Paw Patrol.

8. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

Hats. He hated them – it might have had something to do with the mass of hair he had. He probably got too hot! Oh and the baby bath. I think I used it in the first week Ethan was home before I gave up and got one of those seats that you lie them on in the bath – far easier! Actually, this answer applies to question 4 aswell!

9. Your child’s favourite food?

I swear I have the fussiest eater known to man as my Son. He hasn’t got the widest range of food he likes, but he likes what he knows! He’s really into melon at the moment and the other day he had blackberries for the first time and loved them. He’s very good with fruit and veg actually. And what kid isn’t partial to a few chocolate buttons?!

10. How many cars does your family have?

Two. I have mine and my hubby has his company car.

11. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I honestly can’t tell you what I weighed during pregnancy. I think I put on just over a stone?! I’m now lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, so that’s good, the problem is keeping it that way! The child’s left overs diet is not a very good one!

12. Dream holiday with your kids?

It’s got to be Disney really hasn’t it?! I’m not a Disney fan (I know, don’t hate on me!) but I know Little Legs would love it. What kid wouldn’t? We will take him one day, more than likely Paris, but one of them anyway, when he’s a little bit older.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?

New York. It’s been my dream forever. One day….

14. How has your life changed since having kids?

Immensely. Everything has changed. My work, my play. Everything. I can’t think of much that has stayed the same… Oh, I will still go to concerts as and when they come round. But that’s about it!

15. Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”

Ethan says ‘I love you Mummy, you’re my best friend’. Say no more.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?

Ususally Next, but I’ve also got stuff from Primark, Tesco, Matalan and Asda. Next clothes cope the best with the constant washing!

17. Favourite make-up and skincare products?

No 7 foundation. Collection concealer. Rimmel Stay Matte powder. Benefit Rockateur blush. Benefit Hoola bronzer and Benefit Roller Lash mascara. Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm. And an Aldi Mamia baby wipe at the end of the day!! I know, I know – dreadful!!

18. Huggies or Pampers?

Do Huggies even make nappies anymore?! They were awful from what I remember! But neither. I went through every type of nappy going and Aldi always came out on top!

19. Have you always wanted kids?

Not at all. I still can’t believe that I have one! I was not at all maternal for years, until after I got married.

20. Best part of being a mum?

The pride and love that comes with being a Mum to the kindest, cleverist (is that even a word?!) most loving little boy. Pride that I co-created something so intelligent and love because he fills me with it every single day. Sure, he can be hard work at times but I wouldn’t change it for the world. He’s everything to me and I can’t imagine life without him.

Baby sleeping bags are great, it feel so safe putting them in bed with those rather than a blanket.

Your answers are so similar to mine! Aldi nappies, work and kids – good balance. Parenting just changes everything eh but you wouldn’t change it for the world. Love the pic and thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x

Lovely to find out more about you and your unit – and what works for you. Sounds like you have it pretty sorted with a healthy balance of work and Motherhood. And you are so right about Aldi nappies, only downfall is that they can’t be delivered!

ALways lovely to get to know bloggers a bit better! I’m desperate to take my son to Disneyland after we had such a fabulous holiday there as a child, but my husband wasn’t taken himself and isn’t at all keen! I’m working on him – I think he’s coming round gradually! Thanks so much for joining us again at #SharingtheBlogLove
