Well. What a week. For once I feel like I’ve got loads to report. I really have had the most productive week I’ve had in, well, forever. Hold onto your hats folks because TRAINING HAS STARTED!
Last Saturday evening I put one foot in front of the other and opened up the Couch To 5K app and there was no looking back. And would you believe me if I told you that I have done some form of exercise every single day since? Hell I’ve even started doing Yoga! This is a bit bloody weird for me, I won’t lie. I hate exercise. Well I did. But something great has happened in the process. I’ve lost THREE POUNDS IN WEIGHT. As you can imagine I’m ecstatic about this and it really has given me the boot up the arse I needed to start getting my sweat on more regularly. I’m using it alongside the Fitbit app and My Fitness Pal to monitor my food intake and it’s brilliant because now I’m exercising daily I can eat more food and it actually doesn’t feel like a chore anymore. I know this is old hat to a lot of people but when you’ve been stuck in a mental fatty rut for so long like I feel I have, to me it feels refreshingly revolutionary. It’s changed me totally. Needless to say I’m sticking at it and I intend to shrink before your very eyes over the coming weeks. Watch this space. (I better had now else I’m going to look like a right tit).
Of course, the reason behind all of this is the training for the Race For Life. The running is tough, I won’t lie. I’m not a natural born runner, but I’ve got this thing that I do. When I’m finding it tough, I look up and I picture my Mum at the sideline on race day and I get through it. The reason I’m doing this is the drive and the motivation I need to get through the hard bits. I’m determined to make my family proud. EJ helps too. I went for a run one afternoon this week and he was waiting for me to come back. Then he did the most beautiful thing. He ran towards me, grabbed my hand and then ran back with me. I can’t wait for him to do that on the day. Emotional won’t even cut it.
Anyway. Enough of me blowing my own trumpet. The rest of the week has been quiet in comparison the sunshine has been ace and there’s been lots of playtime and park visits and sandcastle building. It’s great to see EJ so happy outside playing. He’s just in his element. The sunnier days really do seem to make for happier days.
I had to go and get my fifteen year old tongue bar taken out today. That was a bit strange. I’ve never been able to get it out myself and as I have to have a CT scan on my head next week to check out those pesky migraines I’ve mentioned before, the hospital advised I should take it out. Well they’re having a laugh. Impossible. For me to do anyway. So I went and got it done professionally and had a plastic one in its place. I might even treat myself to a new one metal one when its over with. I think after fifteen years it could be allowed.
I did something else last week I didn’t think I’d ever do. I started watching the Harry Potter films. I’ve never ‘got’ them before now. But we’ve watched the first one and we’re about to watch the second. Needless to say I actually quite enjoyed it. Now all that’s left to say this week is “Where is Jaki and what have you done with her?!” Not that I’m bothered. I’m quite liking this new version.
See you next week.
