A Parent’s Love – Wednesday Wisdom 32

I couldn’t let this week go by without marking some fabulous news we have had. Monday evening found me feeling very nervous before going to Parent’s Evening. It was our first opportunity to see the Little Man’s teacher since he started school in September.

You know what kids are like. You ask them what they did at school every day and you get the usual response of ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I can’t remember’. I ask every day regardless in the vain hope that one day he will tell me. I’m still waiting for that day.

But this week I didn’t worry too much because I found out exactly what he’s been doing. Whilst we waited for our allotted appointment with the teacher, we got to look at the Little Man’s work log and I stood open mouthed at just how much wonderful work he has done in such a short space of time.

So many photographs of him enjoying his learning. Beautiful handwriting that has come on in leaps and bounds in the few weeks he has been at school. Paintings and pictures galore that he has lovingly created.

The meeting with his teacher was perfect in every way. He is achieving more than what is expected for his age. He has a lovely group of friends and he is doing brilliantly and I couldn’t be more proud.

I left the school feeling like I was going to burst with love and pride. It was a feeling I had never experienced before and it’s the most amazing feeling in the world. Money can’t buy that feeling. Nothing prepares you for it.

Damn, I love that kid.
