I missed last week’s Wednesday Wisdom because I was recovering from a horrendous bout of food poisoning. I was going to switch the laptop on and muster up something but I couldn’t face it. There’s no point blogging when your heart isn’t in it.
This week however is a different story. It’s actually Sunday night as I sit and write this and it’s the end of what has been a really lovely weekend.
This week’s quote is as simple as this and is exactly what I have done with this week.
“Life is made of moments. Choose to create and collect the happy ones.”
It was a long time coming in all honesty because the week itself had been pretty crappy. I started the week off by having to go to a Speed Awareness Course (oops!) and then there was the dreaded food poisoning, followed by just a few of those days that just didn’t go very well. You know how it is.
Then yesterday, Saturday, I did something completely out of my comfort zone. I went to Birmingham with my Sister, to a book signing. It was at this book signing that I finally got to meet the lovely and wonderful Tom Fletcher. Anyone who knows me or follows me on social media or this blog, will know of my love for Tom and McFly. I’ve talked about them before in a previous post. When he announced he was doing a book signing for his latest children’s book The Christmasaurus and he was coming to Birmingham, my nearest city, I couldn’t not go. I had no clue what I was going to say to him but I knew I’d kick myself if I didn’t go. So we did. And it was wonderful. He was wonderful.
It was such a happy moment, and it was a moment that I will always remember. It’s something that might never happen again (even though I hope it does!) and that’s what makes it all the more special. Meeting one of your idols isn’t always possible for some so a moment as unique and memorable as yesterday will always be a happy special one.
It was followed by a lovely lunch with my wonderful Sister who I don’t see as often as I would like to these days, so it was another happy moment to add to the memory bank. We were ladies that lunch and even had a cocktail to calm our excitement after our eventful morning! The cocktail was called Christmas Crush. How very apt!
Then this evening we had a visit down our street from Santa on his sleigh visiting all of the children in the area. It was a very happy moment seeing all of their faces light up with excitement. Especially, of course, my little boys. It was magical. I realise now getting him to sleep on Christmas Eve may be a bit of a mission!
I’m excited for Christmas now more than ever. I’m excited to collect some more happy moments.
See you next week, with one week to go!
