I don’t think anything can really prepare you for life as a parent. Kids don’t come with a warning label that says ‘your time will not be your own for the foreseeable future’. There seems to be so much to do and so many things to remember that sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming. We all need a little help from time to time, so I’ve put together some ideas that might help you save time as a busy parent.
Plan, plan, plan
I’m a sucker for making plans and sticking to them. I find I am much calmer when I have a plan and know what I’m doing it and when. Not only does it make me calmer but in the long run, planning can actually save you money. When you have structure, you can budget accordingly and not spend money that you didn’t anticipate on spending because you’ve ended up doing something at the last minute.
Set yourself reminders
It might be the Marketeer in me but I live my life through my Trello board! I use it to keep organised with what I need to do and when and set reminders for things I need to remember. If Trello isn’t for you (and it isn’t for everyone) then just use your smartphone. Use your calendar to your own advantage or get a Reminders app. By being organised and setting reminders you will save yourself time in the long run because you won’t be trying to cram everything in at the last minute.
Let someone else do your laundry
I mean, what a great idea, right? Laundry has got to be one of the most tedious, mind-numbing, yet essential chores that we all have to do. So why not let someone else take care of it for you? Enter Laundryheap. Laundryheap is like an Uber for your washing! A 24-hour laundry service. Yes, really! They will collect, clean and deliver your laundry and dry cleaning in 24 hours. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?
I can assure you, it isn’t. Laundryheap currently operates in London, Manchester, Coventry, Birmingham and Dublin, as well as Dubai, Sharjah and Amsterdam overseas.
The service is bookable online and it’s as simple as booking a train ticket! You can choose collection & delivery times at your convenience, including late evenings and weekends. The drivers take your items to their cleaning partners and then within 24 hours your clothes are back with you as good as new.
Declutter
Do you ever waste what feels like an eternity looking for that thing that you know was there the other day but now it’s disappeared into thin air? We’ve all been there. Take a day or even an afternoon out of your day to have a good clear-out and give everything a home. It might seem like a horrible task but having a clutter-free home that is organised can really save you a great deal of time simply because you’ll know where everything is. By using the home functionally your life will be made that so much easier in the long run.
So there we have just a few things you can do to help make your busier lives that little bit easier. Do you have any tips that will help save time as a busy parent? Leave them in the comments and share the wealth!
