When you spend a lot of time at home (as we all have this year), you can be forgiven for getting bored with the same four walls. Not everyone wants or needs to get the paint and paintbrush out and there are easy ways that you can update those walls without spending a small fortune. Let’s talk about wall art.
The term ‘wall art’ doesn’t have to mean a framed photograph or painting. There are so many more options available these days. I’ll share a few of them with you here today.
Gallery wall
The great thing here is there need be no rules with a gallery wall. It’s the perfect space to show off your favourite things. That could be art and vintage photo frames, maps or other trinkets (yes really!) And the other wonderful thing about a gallery wall is that you can change it up as and when you want to. Swap out the art to suit the time of year, or swap the photographs as and when you choose. You could even treat it as a bit of a scrapbook featuring specific events, such as a family holiday or event. This way you’ll never get bored.

Canvas prints
I am a huge fan of the canvas print and have many in my home. They make such fantastic gifts for loved ones and always feel timeless and little more special than a framed photograph. But how can you display them in the home?
Of course, you can just put a nail up and hang them as you would do a framed photo, but have you considered how much more difficult that might be to change them around as they are of a specific size and not as easy to change up as framed print? Time to put up some shelves!
The great thing about shelves is that they can go in most rooms and are extremely versatile so if you decide to place canvas prints on them and then later change your mind, you will undoubtedly find another use for them. But why would you? Canvas prints look amazing placed on shelves and can be swapped around as and when you need to.

Mirrors
Mirrors aren’t just designed to add a decorative touch to an interior. They’re also the perfect solution for making space feel brighter and larger.
A mirror in every room is not vain at all, you will be surprised by how much larger your space will feel once you’ve made this addition. And of course, it always helps to have the handy reflection there should you need it!

Maps
Maps are a really inexpensive but classy way to decorate your home! Bring the world to your doorstep with maps of wherever you choose to adorn your walls. You could place pins in them to mark places you’ve been, or perhaps where you want to go, or perhaps marking a road trip route that was memorable or special to you. The options are endless.

Stencils
Rather than painting the whole wall, how about getting creative with some stencilling? It’s a quick and imaginative way to liven up your walls and update your home. A bold wall stencil can really add sophistication to a room. You can place stencils on a bold paint colour in an alcove or even create a feature wall. Most importantly have fun with it, if it goes wrong, you can always cover it up and start again!

So there we have just a few ideas that won’t break the bank, which one are you going to try first?
