How To Start Your Own Blog

You may not have considered that a blog is overly important for your business, but it’s actually a very powerful tool to increase your profile and reputation, and this is a fluid platform that gives your business a little personality. You may have spent time carefully crafting your business website, but your blog is going to be the bit that people remember the most. So, you should think about the following things when you start your own blog:

  • Plan It Properly! You cannot just jump in and start blogging without any forethought. What are other businesses in your field doing about their blogs? Are they competitive? Are they fun to read? Are they boring? You need to know all of this and it means looking up your competitor’s blogs and finding inspiration in those you admire. A well-planned blog is one that people will visit again and again.
  • Types Of Post. You want to be relevant and an authority in your industry and the best way to do that is to use different types of blog posts. You want video blogs, pictures, interactive posts that create conversation and infographics. You can bring people on to write these posts for you, but they need to be varied to keep people interested! 
  • Consistency. Your blog can’t be a one-trick pony. That is, you can’t just write one post and hope for the best. You have to post frequently enough that people want to keep coming back for more, and you need to make sure that you are sharing these posts to your social media pages, too. Set a schedule for posting and keep a tight editorial calendar so that you can get this right!

It’s so different to print writing and you want to adapt your style to help others to be interested in what you’re offering.
