For the first time in two months, it dawned on me. I haven’t got my posts scheduled for two weeks in advance. It sent me into a bit of a mild panic. For the last few weeks I have been super organised and have felt so much more ‘at ease’ with the blogging lifestyle, upkeep and pretty much the entire process.
I started to think about what has changed for me to find myself in this mini predicament and then I realised – I’ve been doing so much more than just blogging lately.
Not only have I been trying to keep up with my Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother addiction(!), I’ve also been taking on other little tasks.
It started with the journey of going self hosted which I wrote about in a recent post. That took up a bit of time with getting the design and layout of my blog to the point I was super happy with it. I’m a faffer. I’m a perfectionist, so it took a little while. And admittedly a little longer than I hoped and it ate away into my writing time.
I’ve been linking up a lot more lately. This takes time and it is a little faffy if we’re going to be completely honest. I like to comment on other posts as soon as I link up whenever I can, so this also eats into my writing time. But it’s so important and I realise that. And I enjoy it obviously. Not only is it great to communicate and network with all of you lovely people but it’s brilliant for getting inspiration. It’s a win win. But again, it’s time consuming.
On top of all of this I’m studying for my Diploma in Social Media Management. This is crammed into my evenings, has been known to be my latest bedtime reading material and not only will it assist me in my working life it’s contributing towards my blogging journey. Helping me to grow this blog into something really special. I hope, anyway.
I’ve been talking more and more with brands about possible and upcoming collaborations. Arranging said collaborations and all the while still working my day job and looking after my family. It’s been a busy old time.
As if all this wasn’t enough I’ve also taken on building a website for my Brother In Law’s business. When I type that out it still doesn’t make it feel any more real. Me. Building a website. If you had told me a year ago that I’d be doing something that sounded so complicated I’d have had a bit of a giggle about it. But that is what blogging has done for me. It’s opened doors and my mind to things that I never thought I’d do.
Since going self hosted I’ve developed more self confidence. Confidence in myself and my abilities. Confidence in what I could maybe achieve.
It’s true when they say that you get out what you put in, because the more I do, the more I am getting out of blogging. It’s exciting, but it can be tricky getting the organisation right. Finding the time to get everything done in an efficient way is certainly on my list of things to get done, but it’s exactly that, finding the time! That’s going to take some getting used to. But the whole experience is a learning curve and I’m sure that it will come. With time…!
But for now, this is another blog post lined up, so the wave of panic has lifted a little. For now….
