We have arrived in September – I know, right? How is this even possible? I find everyone gets a little excited about the prospect of a new season but the transition from summer to autumn can sometimes be a little tricky when it comes to knowing what to wear. Autumn isn’t always that cold, so it’s not necessary to pull the jeans and jumpers out just yet. With a little help from PrettyLittleThing, here’s how to wear skirts and dresses this autumn.
Yes, you can wear skirts and dresses this autumn!
If there is one thing I love to wear during the warmer, summer months, it’s maxi dresses. On a hot day, they are the most comfortable thing and they are, in my opinion, timelessly elegant. I’ve always loved the relaxed boho look and am always sad to say goodbye to them as the temperature drops. But the truth is, we don’t really need to resign these firm favourites to the back of the wardrobe – they can be worn in autumn, and even winter too.
Multi Tiger Maxi Dress

I recently wore this Multi Tiger maxi dress to a summer wedding reception. I wore it with sandals and didn’t need a jacket. However, this same dress with a pair of black boots and a denim or leather jacket will easily work during the autumn months. As it gets chillier, no one would know if you decided to wear a pair of tights underneath. It’s too nice to keep hidden in the summer wardrobe.

Black Basic Denim Skirt with Mesh Sleeve Top

Denim skirts have always been a favourite of mine. I’ve always loved the distressed look too. This black basic denim skirt is a staple item that every girl needs. This too would work brilliantly with a pair of ankle boots if you wanted to dress it up, but I personally love the cute girly Converse look – I have many to choose from (I have a little Converse obsession, what can I say?!) but I love these bright pink ones with this all-black look. Combined with this feminine mesh sleeve top, this is a great combination of edgy and girly. Perfect for weekend brunch. You could throw on a light jacket with this and it wouldn’t look out of place.

Casual Midi Skirt with Slogan Tee

We’ve been wearing trainers with more formal skirts for some time now, it’s become the norm. This black casual skirt has the ability to look smart and professional even though it’s teamed with a t-shirt and some Adidas All-Stars. Slogan tees don’t have to be just worn with your favourite pair of skinny jeans – worn with a skirt, this outfit is the perfect alternative to the jeans and t-shirt combo.

This post was written in collaboration with PrettyLittleThing who have an amazing range of skirts and dresses available. You can find all of these outfits on their website (apart from the trainers – they’re mine). Whilst I love my jeans, I do love to mix it up and wear something a little different. Who says you can’t wear skirts and dresses this autumn? I am loving all of these outfits and I can’t wait to enjoy them as we head further into autumn.
