A Digger Fan’s Dream – Diggerland Devon

Diggerland Devon

It seems like weeks ago now, but during the Summer holiday’s we took a short break to Torquay. Whilst we were there we decided to take a trip to Diggerland. We had been aware that Diggerland existed in several different locations across the country, but sadly none nearby us. So, as we were in the area, we took advantage.

Diggerland is actually every digger fan’s dream. Little Man grew up on a new build housing estate and in those early days, spent many an hour just staring out of the window as the JCBs went about their daily tasks. Bit by bit and day by day we watched an entire housing estate be erected before our very eyes and to little people, it’s really quite fascinating. So, I know from the outset that Little Man was going to love Diggerland.

We originally planned to visit Diggerland on our way home, on the Sunday, but I was keeping a close eye on the weather and with rain forecast all day long for that day, we decided to make a bit of a journey on the Saturday and get there before the rain clouds came to spoil our fun.

We arrived at Diggerland for just after opening at 10 am. We wanted to avoid any queues and get stuck in straight away where possible. I’m pleased we did because by the time we left at lunchtime, the car park was full. More people obviously means more waiting time for the children, so I would strongly advise getting there early to avoid any impatient meltdowns during your visit.

With twenty different rides across the park, from JCBs made into fairground rides and real-life JCBs to have a go on, there is something for everybody. You can take a look at the different rides and drives available on the Diggerland website. But in the meantime, take a look at some of these wonderful photographs taken on the day.

There are height guides next to each ride and there are quite a few that smaller children can’t operate themselves, but that doesn’t mean they can’t go on at all. Little Man is only five so he went on quite a few with his Dad, so still got to enjoy the fun! It can be a lovely bonding experience as well for them.

The digging is exciting enough in itself but what I was super impressed with is the way they have turned JCBs into fairground grounds – and they weren’t slow either!

In addition to all of this there is an outdoor play area, go-karts and a sand pit along with an indoor soft play for both older and younger children. This is inside the restaurant so you can have a rest and have a bit to eat whilst the kids carry on playing.

As you can see from the photographs, there was a birthday party taking place on the day we went. I think it would be such a good place to have a birthday party. Loads to keep the kids entertained. Lots of space and a huge variety of food too. I don’t know how much they charge, but if this is something that would interest you, I would urge you to get in touch with your nearest Diggerland.

Diggerland has parks in Kent, Devon, Durham and Yorkshire and I can’t recommend them enough if you have a little digger fan in the family. We didn’t stay all day, but you could. You can go on the rides and digs as many times as you want, so you really can get your money’s worth.

We would definitely make a return visit the next time we are in the area. I don’t think Little Man would let us go to Devon without visiting now!

Thanks for having us Diggerland Devon, we had a wonderful day!

This looks like such a fun day out. I’ve been looking at it for ages but it is a trek from where we are so we need to make a little holiday out of it! Might need to do this sooner rather than later looking at this! #ThatFridayLinky

What an incredibly fun day out for your family! I can imagine both boys and girls having a blast with that much power in their hands and seeing what working with your hands and machinery can do! Fabulous pictures.

This looks like such fun day out. We have one really close to us but we’ve never been. My little girl is more into princesses and unicorns than diggers, but I’m sure she’d still enjoy the rides. #triumphanttales

Still not visited even though we talked about doing so ages and ages ago. Great pics by the way. #TriumphantTales
