Christmas has well and truly landed on this blog! Over the weekend I published three gift guides and I wanted to keep the momentum up so when I discovered The Christmas Tag yesterday, I knew I wanted to publish it this week, despite not being tagged in it myself. If nothing else, but to celebrate the start of Christmas, and to follow on from last week’s 100 Truths.
Without further ado, let’s get started, shall we?!
What’s Your Favourite Christmas Movie?
The first one that comes to mind, and one that I have to watch every year, without fail, is Love Actually. It’s such a feel-good film and it always leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy. Especially the end scene when everyone is at the airport. When you’re in the midst of Christmas preparation and may be feeling a little stressed, it really makes you remember what Christmas is all about.
Have You Ever Had A White Christmas?
I don’t think so. I remember having lots of snow when I was little but I don’t think it was ever over Christmas. Although I may be wrong.
Where Do You Usually Spend Your Holiday?
Our Christmas Days are pretty hectic, to be honest. We alternate Christmas lunch each year. One year we will go to my parents and the next year we will go to my in-laws. Whoever we don’t spend lunch with we visit in the morning so we do get to see everyone. We always make sure we come home for tea in the evening so we can spend a couple of calm hours at home. It won’t be like it forever so we make the most of seeing all of the family while we can, despite it being rather tiring.
What Is Your Favourite Christmas Song?
This is tough because I love so many. Although I have to say when I hear the bells at the start of Do They Know It’s Christmas? It gives me goosebumps. None of the remakes compares to the original and it really is Christmas when I hear that.
Do You Open Any Presents On Christmas Eve?
Nooo! Nothing beats the anticipation of opening your presents on Christmas morning when Santa has been. It’s all about the excitement on Christmas Eve and then it’s all go on Christmas morning!
Can You Name All Of Santa’s Reindeer?
I can, but only because we’ve been singing Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer for the last few weeks in our house!!
What Holiday Traditions Are You Looking Forward To This Year?
We started a tradition when Little Man was one year old and that was taking him to the local Garden Centre and buying him one special bauble that he can choose. We have done this every year and the idea is by the time he is old enough to have his own family he will have a beautiful selection of baubles from over the year. I love the idea of special decorations being passed down the family line.
Is Your Christmas Tree Real or Fake?
Fake. Despite the boys of the house pestering me each year for a real one, we always seem to end up with a fake one. It’s a nice fake one though. Maybe next year. But then I say that every year!
What Is Your Favourite Holiday Treat/Food/Sweet?
I actually don’t have a specific favourite. It’s just nice to go mad for a few days and not have to worry about watching the old calorie intake! I do love a good roast potato on Christmas Day!
Be Honest, Do You Like Giving Or Receiving Gifts Better?
Giving. When I’ve put a lot of thought into peoples presents, I can’t wait to see their reaction. And of course, the joy on the Little Man’s face when he gets just what he’s been wishing for is priceless.
What Is The Best Christmas Present You Ever Received?
I was bought a bungee jump six years ago by my husband. I was so excited when I opened it! But then I went and got pregnant and I never got to do it as it expired before the Little Man was born! Maybe one day I will get the chance to do one.
What Would Your Dream Place To Visit For The Holiday Season?
Without child? New York without a doubt. New York any time of the year is my dream, but New York at Christmas would be so magical!
With child? It would have to be Lapland. Who wouldn’t want to take the little ones there to experience a bit of magic!
Are You A Pro Present Wrapper Or Do You Fail Miserably?
I’m not rubbish but I’m not a pro either. I start out with good intentions but I always get bored!
Most Memorable Christmas Memory?
Christmas 2012. Little Man was due on Christmas Day of this year and we made no plans that year. Whatever happened we were going to be at home. Thankfully, he arrived nine days early and we were all home together for what was our little boy’s first Christmas. It was perfect. It was the only year I have ever made Christmas dinner myself!
What Made You Realise The Truth About Santa?
I was talking to some colleagues about this the other day and I genuinely don’t remember finding out the truth. Clearly, it wasn’t a devastating experience for me so I’m assuming I just worked it out myself over time.
What Makes The Holidays Special For You?
Just having time at home with the family with no work and no rushing around. It’s the perfect excuse to have a well-earned break and I’m really looking forward to it this year. It’s been a busy old year!
