The Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award

A little under a month ago, my fabulous blogging buddy and linky co-host Lianne from Mrs Mummy Harris, nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award. So first of all, thank you lovely lady and thank you also for being a pleasure to work alongside with the Triumphant Tales linky.

The Rules

          • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
          • Write a post to show your award.
          • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
          • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
          • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
          • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

How My Blog Started

Much the same as a lot of you reading this I expect. I began writing when I was at home with a twelve-week old baby in 2013. I wasn’t getting out a huge deal and needed to do something to prevent baby brain from taking up a permanent residence in my head. Jaki Jellz wasn’t officially born until March 2016. That is when I bought the domain and started blogging ‘properly’, or some might say seriously, and I haven’t stopped since.

Advice To New Bloggers

First up, research. A lot. Read lots of other blogs – especially the ones full of hints and tips. I know with certainty that I am not alone when I say that we all go into this blogging malarkey extremely naive. I for one just assumed it was a case of just typing a few words and hitting publish and that was it. WRONG. There is so much more to it than that. Well, I say that. Sure, you can just write the posts and publish them, but if you want anyone to actually read them, then there is a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. In actual fact – the writing and post prep probably take the least amount of time! There is a wealth of information out there and the blogging community is a great one to be a part of – if you have a question, don’t be scared to ask. We always love to help if and when we can.

Secondly, don’t expect it to happen overnight. Some of the most well-established bloggers have been going for years before they see the kind of numbers in their stats that they have been dreaming of. Social following and page hits take time and if I’m honest, a lot of hard work and dedication. The best way to deal with this, in my opinion, is to have fun with it. Get social – talk to others on Twitter. Share your posts. Join linky’s (we have one you can join!! ?), enjoy the ride – and before you know it, you’ll be hooked, and in turn, your blog will grow, as will your knowledge.

My 15 Nominated Blogs

In no particular order, I nominate the following blogs, for the Blogger Recognition Award.

Mommy And Rory

Bespoke Buckley

Whimsical Mumblings

Wafflemama

My Real Fairy

Pass The Wine Please

Confessions Of A Working Mum

Ali’s Upside Down World

Topsy Turvy Tribe

Musings Of A Tired Mummy

Shinners And The Brood

Run Jump Scrap

Tammymum

Naptime Natter

The Brunette Says

So there we are. All of these blogs are brilliant and really deserve the Blogger Recognition Award in my opinion. I won’t comment on your blogs guys, because that will take forever, but by now you should have had a tweet from me! I can’t wait to read your posts – and thank you for giving me great reading over the last year or so. ?

I’m new to blogging and felt very naive with the work involved in blogging. I still don’t think I have fully touched on it but I am enjoying it so much.
I read so much that I became a bit overwhelmed, in the end I decided to just go to a few people and join some great groups that help. I have found the community really supportive. #ThatFridayLinky

Ok THANK YOU, you have motivated to get back to some serious self promoting – I have been so lazy recently, and you’re right, you’ve got to get out there! Starting with my first week on the #triumphanttales linky 🙂

  • Louise 12 April 2017 at 22:31

Haha, I remember when I started and one view per day got me excited but I didn’t understand how to get my posts seen. It’s taken many months and I’m starting to understand, but I think it will take a lot longer for me to get ‘out there’! #triumphanttales

  • Lisa Pomerantz 14 April 2017 at 02:26

There are some great tips here, and I completely agree with you that blogging is not just about the writing, and more time is spent on the promotion. I didn’t realise you had been blogging for so long, well done you. Claire x #TriumphantTales

  • laura 16 April 2017 at 23:04

I love this tag, and the advice you have shared is spot on. Don’t be afraid to ask is a good one, for the first 12 months of blogging I tried to figure it all out by myself and now I wish I hadn’t wasted quite so much time and just asked someone! #triumphanttales (sorry my comments are late!) xx
