The Big Birmingham Summer Bear Hunt - The Big Sleuth

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you may already be familiar with the cuddly friends that feature in this post! This Summer, we’ve been on the biggest bear hunt, as we’ve taken part in Birmingham’s Big Sleuth.

What is the Big Sleuth?

The easiest way for me to tell you about The Big Sleuth is to let you watch this short video. Straight away it will give you an idea of what we’ve been up to!

Our Big Sleuth Trail

The Big Sleuth has been a great experience for us as a family. We got out in all weathers to go on the trail for these gorgeous looking bears. One Sunday we walked the length and breadth of the centre of Birmingham. In total, we walked over 6.5 miles in the beautiful summer sunshine (yes, one of those rare days!) and it was the loveliest of days.

Obviously, being from the Midlands, I have been to Birmingham on many an occasion. But on this particular day, I saw it in a whole new light. I walked around parts I had never paid that much attention to before. I went into museums I would never have taken a second look at before. I got to know my way around Birmingham and realised, I actually knew more than I thought! It was a great way to spend the day as a family.

We didn’t just stop at Birmingham city centre. On other days, we ventured further afield to Sutton Coldfield, Solihull and Resorts World Birmingham.

We had downloaded the app and it was our mission to find as many of the bears as possible, and of course for the Little Man to get his photo with as many as he could. We really should have started our adventure a few weeks earlier as I am sure that by now we would have got them all. Thankfully the Husband works in Birmingham so managed to tick a few off the list that we didn’t get to as a family.

Take a look at the Little Man in his element with all of his bears. I think it was pretty impossible to pick a favourite.

The main aim, of The Big Sleuth, was to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. By downloading the app and people getting sponsored to take part, the general public has been contributing to a wonderful cause.

Last weekend saw the last couple of days that the bears were in place to be found and now they are all being auctioned off to raise even more money.

We really hope that there is another event like this in the future because we loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to get back out there again – except next time we will start even earlier and we will find them all!

Thank you, Birmingham for a lovely summer adventure. We certainly went on a bear hunt, we definitely caught some big ones and we weren’t scared at all!

I’ve seen these sorts of hunts before and this one looks a great one. They brighten up an area and raise money so win win. We’ll definitely do one when the girls are a bit older and have a bit of walking stamina #triumphanttales
