With Mother’s Day fast approaching, Buyagift.co.uk have been asking mums around the UK what they really want this year – and it’s clear that relaxation and pamper time is high up the list.
Last month, the UK’s leading provider of experience days surveyed 2,000 mums to find out more about their daily lives, and their plans for Mother’s Day this year.
What mums miss most
It’s fair to say that motherhood can be testing at times, which is why 4 in 5 mums said they secretly miss relaxation and pamper time. Other relaxing moments that mums miss include having a lie in, having a full night’s sleep, having a bath or shower in peace, and drinking a cup of tea without it going cold.
A day in the life of mum
Buyagift also found out which moments are the most stressful for mums every day. The number one response was simply getting the kids ready and leaving the house. This was followed by bedtime, supermarket shopping, and long car journeys.
10% of mums also manage to do this on less than 3 hours of sleep on an average night – which is nothing short of heroic. Nearly 2 in 3 mums get less than the recommended number of hours sleep a night too. Don’t you agree that these sleep-deprived and busy mums deserve some rest and relaxation time this Mother’s Day?
The most relaxing experiences for mum
Mother’s Day 2019 is on March 31st, so now is the time to start thinking about how to treat mum or grandma this year. Here’s a big hint: 75% of mums said they would love to be treated to a relaxing spa day this Mother’s Day, and they also voted for the treatments they’d like to have the most.
- Neck and shoulder massage
The most desired treatment this year is a neck and shoulder massage, which perhaps isn’t that surprising when it can help to relieve some of the tension built up from all those stressful moments.
Gift hint: The Indulgent Spa Days Smartbox by Buyagift (£99.99) gives you the choice of 600 experiences throughout the UK, including treatments and spa access to two people. This means that mum can bring a friend along for the day, or enjoy a bit of mummy and daughter bonding time with a grown-up child.

- Facial
The second most voted-for spa treatment was a facial. Not all mums have the chance to do a full skincare routine every day, so a facial can be the perfect pick-me-up for a revitalised appearance.
Gift hint: The Luxury Pampering Smartbox by Buyagift (£79.99) is another multi-choice voucher, giving you 530 experiences to choose from in the UK. Some experiences include a glass of champagne, and there is also the option to choose an experience for one if mum needs ‘me time’, or experience for two for time spent together.

- Wash, cut and blow dry
One-third of mums think that a wash, cut and blow dry is the best way to enjoy pamper time. Maybe this is because so many mums leave it longer than they’d like between a proper hair wash, and pop in a bit of dry shampoo instead…
Gift hint: The Indulgent Pamper Treat Smartbox by Buyagift (£39.99) includes a range of hair and beauty treatment experiences amongst the 500 on offer. If now isn’t a convenient time for mum to go to the salon, this voucher can be used at any time within 24 months after purchase, which makes it a great choice for busy mummies.

What are you doing for Mother’s Day?
Sometimes we all need a reminder of how amazing mums are, and why Mother’s Day is important. What will you be doing for Mother’s Day this year? If you’re planning on buying a thoughtful gift, don’t leave it too late (although you can buy instant vouchers on Buyagift.co.uk if you do!). I se need a pamper and need to book in a spa day soon! I randomly saw Wildmoor is now a Bannantynes as was looking for spa places near us. Every mum needs a pamper now and again as even a wee in peace is hard to come by!! Thanks for hosting #triumphanttales
All that matters for me about Mother’s day is that the kids just remember it. I love to receive flowers, candles and toiletries, but they know it’s only a token and supermarket flowers (tulips or daffodils) are greatly appreciated. It doesn’t have to be expensive #triumphanttales
Jaki, I so agree with this gift guide! These are three of my favourite indulgences, and in this order! #triumphanttales
Mother’s Day is in May here in the States. All you UK bloggers give me a heart attack thinking I was forgetting every year. lol #triumphanttlales
I definitely agree with the mornings and bedtime being the most stressful! These are lovely ideas for mums though, we deserve to be taken care of! I’m definitely going to hint to my husband!
I’d be happy with just a book in the bath at the moment! #TriumphantTales
Ooh a pamper session – yes please. I can do with a spa treatment #TriumphantTales
I’m with Jeremy on this one, remembering that you have this holiday early! I would greatly appreciate any one or all of these fantastic ideas. I can use a bit of a pamper! #triumphanttales xoxo
I have no idea what I will be doing yet for Mother’s Day but the thought of either a facial or a massage (or both!) sounds like complete bliss. I’m crossing my fingers for something lovely! #triumphanttales
Oh I would love a spa day! (Leaves page open on computer and walks away, hopes husband takes hint) #TriumphantTales
Oh gosh how I wish I could have all of these. I am hoping I get treated to something nice x #TriumphantTales
