How do you keep the office staff happy? Times are changing and workplaces are becoming more and more adaptable and accepting of their employees’ needs and requirements. Staff spend many hours at work so what can you do to ensure that you keep the office staff happy?
Flexible office space – Flexible office spaces allow employees to work in different areas of the office instead of being stuck at their desks or cubicles all day long. Nobody works efficiently in this way, after all.
If staff need some quiet time to really focus on a certain task, they can move to a quiet corner or soundproofed meeting room to get their work done. Offering employees the freedom to move around is great for their health and motivates them to work more efficiently. Sometimes a change of scenery is all people need!
It’s also important to provide staff with the facilities they need. A space in the office to call their own, employee lockers if hot desking is an option and of course, somewhere they can go to make themselves food and drink if they want it.
Integration of technology – Technology plays a primary role in modern offices. More or less everything is now done electronically, and offices need the proper equipment to keep up with technological advancements. A well-set-up office helps employees work smarter, faster, and way more efficiently.
Many offices in this day and age opt for laptops instead of desktops, This gives their employees the freedom to work from anywhere. Since work has now become portable, offices need to adjust accordingly. Because of this, video conferencing technology needs to be readily available and anything else that is necessary to facilitate smart working.
Flexible working – In line with the technology aspect above – offering your staff the flexibility to work from home if they need to is a sure fire way to keep your staff happy. Working parents can often struggle with childcare and if they have the option to work from home – or remotely then this will take away worry and burden from them, help them financially and in return, you will have a happier member of staff.
Comfortable work areas – Forcing employees to sit on uncomfortable chairs and desks eight hours a day really isn’t the recipe for success. If you want to create a space that fosters creativity and increases overall employee satisfaction, you need to make it more comfortable, even homey. Put together an area that has sofas – there’s nothing wrong with having a team meeting over a coffee on some comfy seats. Your staff will thank you for it.
