How to choose your wedding rings

The list is endless when it comes to planning a wedding and whilst a lot of the things to do on your to-do list can be quite stressful, choosing your wedding rings shouldn’t be and is something that you should enjoy together.

Think ahead and do your research

There’s a good chance that you both have different tastes and when you’re discussing how you’d like your rings to look, it can be easy to get carried away with your imagination – with many beautiful styles, designs and metals you’ll end up finding it difficult to choose! If you’re able to slim down your choices before going to view wedding rings, it’ll make the end choice much easier. From deciding on whether you’d like the addition of diamonds or coloured gemstones to whether you’d like his & her rings, if you have a rough idea of what you’re looking for you’ll find your rings that much quicker – and with a lot less stress! You will also need to consider what will match your engagement ring – whether you have the halo rings style or something a little simpler, it will need to compliment it.

Compromise might be needed

You might be a fan of white gold and your partner could be eyeing up the mens moissanite rings, but this doesn’t mean there is a need for panic! By combining ideas and compromising on your overall design, you may find that you like the combination of features more than what you envisaged in your mind. Two-tone metal rings can make for a beautiful blend and this way you’d both have things that you love in your bands will give them a bespoke, special meaning to you – your rings don’t have to be identical if your tastes aren’t the same. Remember there is always an option to add a meaningful inscription inside to make them –  a unique way to make them feel like a pair.

Consider Your Lifestyle

It can be all well and choosing an intricately carved or gemstone-encrusted band, but if your lifestyle is more of the active kind, either being outdoors a lot of the time or you’re doing a more labour intensive job with your hands, you should probably think about the type of rings which will suit you best – this is particularly important if you’re wanting to wear your rings every day. Gemstones are obviously stunning but they can work loose from their settings over time.

Think about the future

You may well have seen a design that’s currently ‘on trend’, but before you commit, think about how quickly the design might date. Although it might look beautiful now, you don’t want to be regretting it in a couple of years’ time! There are some really wonderful classic styles around that will never date and will look chic no matter what the decade – that being said, this mustn’t stop you from purchasing the ring you want if you have your heart set. You’re not tied to the band and if you want to change it up in a few years’ time for an anniversary or renewal of your wedding vows, it’s the perfect time to get another style. You could even add a moissanite eternity band into the mix to match your husband’s!
