4 Tips To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

When you’re a quiet introvert like me, it can be really easy to plod along day to day. It can be easy to keep comfortable and not do anything that pushes you out of your comfort zone. We’ve all heard of that saying “do one thing every day that scares you” and so I’m going to give you some tips that will help you get out of your comfort zone.

Choose a new environment

This can be anything, but start small by perhaps going to a new restaurant. Or perhaps going somewhere new to do some shopping. Do you find yourself going to the same place on holiday each year? Maybe this is the year to try somewhere completely different. There is a whole world out there, it’s time to explore it!

Do what you’re afraid of

If something scares you then why not go ahead and do it? Perhaps you have been thinking about signing up to some dating sites? Perhaps the very thought of meeting someone new scares you, but why not try it? It’s a far less scary option than going up to someone in a bar. Sites like We Love Dates are a great way to get chatting with someone without having to be face to face stumbling over awkward conversations. You’re free to hide behind your computer screen until you decide you want to take it further.

If it scares you then just do it, it’s the way to conquer your fears – and if you need some extra advice, check out these dating tips!

Say Yes more

Obviously, this one needs care and thought but try saying yes more. If you are working, say yes to new projects, new assignments and even new roles — even if it’s something that you haven’t done before. It could open up huge opportunities in your career.

Say yes to that night out that you have been refusing for the last few weeks. It could be the best night of your life and you could even meet new friends.

By saying yes, instead of no, you could open up a whole new road to new opportunities. How exciting does that sound?

Set yourself challenges

Finally, set yourself daily challenges. Just one or two of these a day will make you feel a little more liberated. Try something like these:

Next time you find yourself making eye contact with a stranger, hold it until they look away.

Next time someone asks you how you are, try responding by saying you are great or fantastic instead of just ‘okay’.

Next time someone smiles at you say ‘hello’ instead of just smiling back.

These small steps will soon see an increase in your confidence. Remember that baby steps are still better than no steps at all.

It’s not always easy when you lack confidence. The world can seem like a scary place. But by doing something every day that you wouldn’t normally do, you could soon find yourself steering your life into a different direction. The kind of direction that you wouldn’t be going in if you didn’t get out of your comfort zone once in a while.

What do you do to push yourself out of that zone? Let me know in the comments.

This is something I struggle with too, but have found myself opening up to new experiences since being with my new partner,! We help eachother that way #TriumphantTales

  • I have a list of jobs to do today I can’t put off anymore. Each of them involves interaction with other people. I’ll feel so good when I finally get them done and I really can’t fathom why I can’t jump on them easily. I like being in my comfort zone haha xx

I love the advice here. I’ve always been one to “play safe” and not get out of my comfort zone. Recently I was asked to create a logo for someone and I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to create what they were after. I finished it yesterday and they loved it! I was so pleased!
That’s what you get for getting out of your comfort zone. 👍🏻

I don’t do something daily that is uncomfortable but recently my husband and I have been discussing starting a business together. It can be an uncomfortable process because not only do we have to save for it and maybe take out a loan for it, but so much would be riding on its success.

We all definitely need to step outside of our comfort zone more – I’ve never been described as an introvert, but even I go by these steps and am trying to say yes more often this year. Sim x

Both the Torschlusspanik list and the Wednesday club keep me fronting up for activities and experiences outside my comfort zone. You don’t know what you don’t like until you try it. #TriumphantTales

You’re right, it’s very easy to just stick with what makes you feel comfortable. I do it all the time. I love trying to shake things up at times by going somewhere different to break the routine but I’m not very good at saying yes. That’s the one I probably need to work the most on! #triumphanttales
