A Brief Guide to Living in Snohomish

Snohomish is a part of Washington State. Living in Snohomish means being part of a town with a little upwards of 10,000 residents. Many who live there find it to be a charming place. If you are thinking about moving there, you should find out as much about it as possible first.

There are several beautiful houses for sale in Snohomish at the moment that are well worth investigating. Before checking out some listings, consider the following about this picturesque community.

Education

In general, the residents of Snohomish seem to think this tranquil part of the country has a lot going for it. Many parents point to the education system as one of the main highlights.

The city has a high-quality education system, with a student-to-teacher ratio of about 19-1. The schools seem to have skillful instruction, plenty of individualized attention for the pupils, and equitable access for all youngsters up till the time they leave for college.

Real Estate

If you’re thinking about moving to Snohomish, you will be pleased to hear that some of the houses are gorgeous and spacious. They won’t come too cheaply, though.

At the moment, the median sale price is just below $900,000. That is up about 3.5% versus where they were last year.

It would probably be correct to categorize the housing situation there as being a seller’s market. Homes are so much in demand that some buyers are waiving inspections before putting in bids. However, there’s plenty of that happening elsewhere in the country as well.

The Political Climate

If you’re looking for a town or city in Washington State that skews either liberal or conservative, you won’t find it to be too much one way or another in Snohomish. The town tends to have slightly more conservative than liberal voters.

Still, you also have to factor in that Washington State as a whole votes liberal more than it does conservative. While you can look back at the state’s early days and see a solid record of voting Republican, in recent times, it has gone the other way. In fact, it currently has the longest streak of Democratic governors of any US state.

The Employment Situation

When many individuals come to Snohomish, they look for work if they don’t have a job lined up already. If that’s what you have in mind, then you should know that in 2022, the city had record lows in unemployment at 2.3%.

Generally, the workforce is diverse and skilled. The retail trade definitely dominates, but you can also do well looking for work there if you have skills related to healthcare, technology, government, or manufacturing.

Other than that, the main thing to know about Snohomish is that it’s gorgeous. There are many public parks with biking trails, and the weather is usually fairly temperate for most of the year.

There’s plenty of rainfall, but you can say that about most of Washington State. Living in Snohomish is undeniably something to consider for raising a family.
