One of the biggest benefits of working from home is that you can work from anywhere. As long as you have an internet connection the world is your office. This is why the tiny house movement is becoming so popular. People are not tied down and are crafting a life on their own terms thanks to the possibility of remote working.
If you’re interested in moving to a tiny house then you will need to understand how to make it work. Living in a much smaller space needn’t be uncomfortable. To make sure it isn’t then you do have to make some adjustments and preparations. In this article, we will go over how to set up your tiny house for maximum comfort and livability.
1 – Know how to use the space
The idea of living in a tiny house is to maximize the space that you have so that you never actually feel cramped. Even though you are using a fraction of the space of the typical house, you won’t feel like you are sacrificing when you set it up the right way.
The key is knowing how to use the space. Make sure to set up areas for different tasks and then furnish each one accordingly. For instance, if you will be working from home then have an area where small desks would fit and use that for your office.
The kitchen is an obvious one, but it is tricky to get the flow right when you set it up. Understand how you like to cook and then make sure you organize it so you have everything at hand there.
Each area should also be used in other ways so think it through. Your work area, for example, might have to do double duty as the entertainment centre where you watch movies. Your living room will likely also be converted into a bedroom when it’s time to sleep.
2 – Pick the right furniture
Just about everything in a tiny house has to do double duty and that includes the furniture. Make sure that your furniture can also be used for storage. Use the space under the sofa to put some crates to make sure that you have a spot for blankets and pillows.
A bed can do the same thing. In fact, some people make their own beds so they can use all of the space underneath for extra storage.
The furniture that doesn’t get used for storage should be able to be stored away when not in use. A folding table for dinner should be broken down in seconds to make sure you have space to move around when you aren’t eating.
3 – Use all dimensions
Our walls will also need to be put to good use. That space is wasted if all you are using it for is decorations like pictures. Think about some shelving or even use hooks to hang things from the wall to give you more floor space.
