It’s no secret that ever since I was small, I’ve always had issues with my weight. Don’t worry, it’s never got to the point that I’ve developed an eating disorder but I’ve never been truly happy with my size.


It got particularly bad around fifteen years ago when I put on quite a bit of weight and the doctor told me that I needed to lose some. When the doctor tells you, you know you need to do something about it. And I did. I lost weight by eating healthy food and exercising regularly. But ever since then I’ve been paranoid about going back there again. I put a lot of weight on once, and it could happen again!


I’ve done every fad diet going. Shakes, low carb, juicing – you name it, I’ve tried it and I know it’s ridiculous because even though those diets had brilliant short-term effects, none of them really helped me long term. The excitement was short-lived because it’s too easy to go back to old habits  – and we can all be guilty of this.


My husband has recently qualified as a Personal Trainer and I won’t lie, it’s made me even more paranoid about my size. I worry about whether I’m a bad advert for him. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not morbidly obese, or drastically overweight – if anything I’m average. I’m a size 10-12 dress size and I can wear any clothes that I fancy but I worry because I don’t work out and I’m not ‘fit’, that I’m letting him down.


My nutrition hasn’t been the greatest recently and I know I’ve not been looking after myself of late. But I struggle to find the motivation to do anything about it – and the time. The course is beautifully presented and really easy to watch. A lot of people don’t have the time to sit and watch hours upon hours of courses but you don’t need half a day to take part in this course. As long as you can set aside one hour of your time, you will benefit from doing so.


What I like about this course is that you don’t feel like you’re getting a lecture from somebody who knows better than you. It feels like you’re watching a couple of friends who are there to support you on your journey – a journey for some that could be incredibly hard. I found that the tips that Nicola and Lamorna give you, really make you think about yourself as a person and encourage you to set realistic goals and above all be kind to yourself. When I finished the course, I felt inspired and dare I say it, but I think I even liked myself a little bit more than I did before.

    I was the was weight for most of my life, then suddenly since the toddler arrived, I’ve started going up and am now 5kg above my old ‘normal’. Course looks very sleek and easy to use. #TriumphantTales

    Thank you for sharing this! I have a weight issue for several reasons. I am homebound and at time bedridden, I am on medication that made me gain weight and my illness doesn’t really allow for exercise. I do eat healthy but the other things I really can’t do anything about.

    I am learning to accept my new body and dress in flattering ways for it.

    I am scheduling to post on Pinterest.

    Jaki, that sounds good. And you sound like you have a balanced approach. (AND you look great!) I just eat for health and have been thriving for several years on limiting my sugar intake to never more than 6 teaspoons (24 grams) in a day. It eliminates all sugar cravings, and I feel so much better. At the beginning of this year, I started 16/8 Intermittent Fasting (eating only between 10am and 6 pm). I’ll do these two things for the rest of my life. #TriumphantTales

    I’ve always struggled with my weight and I finally got some motivation when my Daughter was born. It gave me the nudge I needed to look after myself properly. Five years in my mindset has definitely changed for the better but there’s always that demon that lurks waiting to reappear. So it’s good to know they are resources out there to help when needed. #TriumphantTales

    I think having somebody supportive instead of lecturing would be good for a lot of people. There seems to be a mindset where motivation comes in the form of shame sometimes when it comes to trying to lose weight #trumphanttales

    This sounds really good, I have signed up. I go to the gym 4 times a week but my diet is terrible, unfortunately I am an emotional eater and things have been tough the last few months. I think sorting out my mindset towards weight loss will help. Thank you.

    I’m kind of similar to you by the sounds of things Jaki. Also like you, I’m not overweight but I’m defo carrying about 10kgs more than I should right now (thanks America!!!!) but I’m struggling big time to shift any of it atm.
