What Does Science Say On Parenting Smart Kids?

Until a while ago, it was believed that children’s intelligence was predetermined by nature or family inheritance. According to some advances in evolutionary studies, and the context with our environment, it shows that this is not quite so.

These concepts, in general, were taken with tweezers from the beginning, since scientists and behavioural professionals had certain discrepancies due to reality and the experience of the events that are happening and how we learn to respond to certain incentives.

Born Smart vs Learn To Be Smart

This is a question that still resonates in many current studies on human behaviour. The important thing is to devote ourselves to observe our children to know how they behave with their environment in general.

What parents should do is “create intelligence” in children to distinguish basic and difficult issues that afflict them and help them be successful. We have to accompany them when they are wrong and when they try to do everything right.

The Three Learning Stages

According to Benjamin Bloom, a psychologist and pedagogue who contributed significantly in the field of cognitive development and learning, closely related to the taxonomy of educational objectives, cites three hierarchical models to classify levels of complexity, oriented to learning objectives. :

  • Playfulness: When children are attracted or interested in something.
  • Precision: Learn technical skills. How to play an instrument, how to do mathematical calculations, etc.
  • Originality: This is the most rewarding part. It is when children do something in their own way, that is born of them. It is the stage where it is seen that they do something creative using intelligence.

Steps To Raise Genius Children

  • Encourage your children’s curiosity by asking questions and urging them to find solutions promoting problem-solving and reducing mental blockages.
  • Let them solve some basic day-to-day tasks such as dressing alone, and dealing with those moments until they realise they can. Children must learn that perseverance pays off.
  • They must know how things are connected to each other. Teach them to think connected and not isolated. For example: if they are doing a task, ask them “Can you find other ways to do it?

You have to make them think about different options and situations and how they would solve them.

How Much Should We Help Our Children With Their Homework?

First of all, as parents, we must be aware that those tasks belong to them, not to us. Doing it for them will not help the child at all.

What parents should do is make them feel that we are involved and committed to them and their chores.

Ask them what they are doing or thinking, maybe make some suggestions, but first of all, support them and not impose your own thoughts or experiences.

What you try with this is to help them create, build their own alternatives and solutions as they learn.

The idea is to let them take the next step by themselves and not be dependent on us when it comes to obtaining knowledge. You know what I mean.

How To Make Your Children Grow Up With An Extraordinary Mind?

There are many methodologies to direct children to high-level education and learning, but basically what we have to look for and keep in mind is “listen“. If you really want your children to respond in a better way to their education, it is necessary to listen to what they have to say and respond to those interests accordingly.

Many times as parents in an increasingly hectic world, do not realise certain family issues that are the basis of a good education and upbringing of our children.

Let’s take some time to think about what we are instilling in our children so that in the future, they are not only better but humble and responsible towards people and their surroundings. Still, it does not matter if your child is going to grow up to be the Nobel prize winner or an athlete competing for NFL MVP. All that matter is that they are happy and feeling that you are proud of them.
