Helping Our Little Man Get A Better Night’s Sleep

Better Night's Sleep

I don’t know about you but there aren’t many things more difficult to deal with than an overtired, grumpy child. Recently, a combination of school and later nights due to the clocks changing, I’d been noticing that our little man hasn’t been sleeping brilliantly and consequently was pretty miserable. I needed to do something to help him get a better night’s sleep.

The little man’s bedroom is adjacent to ours and the number of times I have heard him fidgeting in the night is quite ridiculous. I’ve heard him roll into the wall (how do they not wake up when they do that?!) and I’ve regularly had to go into him and put him back into bed the right way around. It’s been obvious that he’s been unsettled and I got to wondering whether he just wasn’t comfortable on his mattress.

He had a ‘normal’ mattress that I’d added a mattress topper to but it just wasn’t cutting it. I also noticed that when he fell asleep on our bed on the odd occasion he was poorly, he slept so much better. We have a Leesa mattress so I was beginning to think a single one for him could be the answer to our problems.

We took delivery of our single Leesa mattress just under two weeks ago and we immediately noticed the difference. The first morning after he slept on it, we had to wake him up – this is unheard of! In fact, I’m so used to him waking me up in the morning, I’d become a little too dependent on him. We were nearly late for school! Whoops.

I explained all about the science behind the mattress in my previous Leesa mattress post. But just very briefly, the Leesa mattress has three unique foam layers that work together to offer a feel that adjusts to the body of each individual, it provides the perfect comfort and support, as well an airflow system that prevents overheating. It isn’t a memory foam mattress – but it provides all the benefits of a memory foam without that ‘sinking feeling’ or the ‘sleeping hot’ experience you may have had. Also, just know that I am still totally blown away that they come in a box!

We are two weeks in. I can safely say that changing the little man’s mattress was the best thing we could have done. Not only is he waking up refreshed and happier in the morning, I am not constantly worrying about him fidgeting his way around the bed all night. He actually likes to lay in for longer in his own bed these days. But I don’t blame him. I know first hand how comfortable they are.

You can see from the last selection of photos how happy he is with his new mattress. He had no idea that it was going to help him get a better night’s sleep. He just knew how comfortable it was. I have to be honest, I knew before he even went to bed that this was a game changer.

If your little one is struggling with their sleep and you have an inkling that their mattress is to blame. I can’t recommend a Leesa mattress enough. It’s worked wonders for us. I have no doubt it would for you too.

Leesa is offering you, my readers, £80 off a mattress of your choice – if you follow this link, you will be presented with your special JakiJellz code.

I was gifted this single mattress in return for a feature on my blog. As always all thoughts, words and opinions are my own. Thank you, Leesa.

A good mattress can make all the difference. Small Boy started sleeping much better when he moved to a new bed and a new mattress – sprung but with a memory foam layer. Of course, the last four weeks he’s been a nightmare so not sure what’s happened there. He rolls over into the wall too. How THAT doesn’t wake him up is beyond me! #TriumphantTales

Great that you hit on the solution. You are so right at the difference proper sleep makes to kids’ wellbeing. I would be more inclined to think about what is interfering with their sleep in terms of what is going on for them, rather than looking at the more obvious thing of their actual sleeping paraphernalia. Well done you. #TriumphantTales

I had a child fidgit in a chair. I mean to the point of distraction for her and everyone else. Not her usual behavior. I spent a day watching her and realized her feet did not touch the floor. She was uncomfortable. She was smaller than my other students. I got her a new chair and lowered her desk. It was all that was needed. Good for you for thinking out of the box.

Brilliant! My little one is sleeping very well in her crib, but I fear that once we get her out, a mattress is going to play a key role in EVERYONE’S sleep! Definitely going to keep this in the back of my mind for a few years down the road.

Glad he is getting a good night sleep – looks like you may need to start using that alarm clock again! 🙂 #triumphanttales

to ensure our children had a good nights sleep, we removed all distractions from their rooms, mainly toys, just keeping teddy bears and books in their room, back then though my kids didnt have access to the internet at all and no tvs in their rooms, i think this makes a huge difference to children’s sleeping patterns also #triumphanttales
