It’s not something that I have documented heavily on my blog, but I might in the near future, but this year I have managed to lose just under three stone in weight. This is something that, as I’m sure you can imagine, I am immensely proud of. When I was recently contacted by the lovely people at DietBon asking if I would like to review their weight loss meals, I saw it as a great opportunity to continue eating in a healthy manner and also a way to see what other diets are out there.
What is DietBon?
DietBon is a meal delivery service that is based online. The plan is set for six days with one ‘free’ day and the meals consist of breakfast, lunch dinner and snacks. Your free day is so that you can still enjoy that nice meal out with friends if you want to and not feel guilty about coming off the plan. They do, however, advise you choose a healthy option when out.
The DietBon recipes all contain 100% natural ingredients with no artificial colourings, preservatives or additives. They are also all precooked and only require a couple of minutes in the microwave. They don’t even need to be kept in a freezer which is great as a week’s worth of food takes up quite a bit of room!
Before you begin the plan you have a consultation on the telephone with a nutritionist, just to make sure that the diet is right for you. The dietary consultation serves to customise the program for everybody’s individual’s needs and it helps to establish good eating habits for after the program as well as during.

What did I think?
I’ve been quite restricted all year with the type of food that I could and couldn’t have, this was down to the type of diet I have been on, so for me, this weight loss plan was actually extremely varied. The plan allowed me 1200 calories a day, which for me is just under what is required for my own personal ‘maintenance’, so I could afford to have a little extra snack here and there. I’m in a position where I don’t really need to lose any more weight, so I was lucky in this respect.
As for the taste? I actually really enjoyed them. Particular favourites were roast chicken fillet with mash potatoes (the gravy was to die for!). Sauteed pork with diced vegetables and bacon was also a favourite – it left me wanting more!

I did try the detox teas, but I have to be honest when I say I prefer my tea with a splash of milk – normal style. I wasn’t overly keen, but if this is your thing then I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
The desserts, at first glance, did remind of the fruit puddings I used to give my little boy when he was a baby, but they actually taste really lovely and are a lovely way to curb that sweet tooth without feeling guilty.

How much does DietBon cost?
Obviously diets such as these don’t come cheap. But if you want something that is easy to follow and something you don’t have to think too hard about then this could be for you. It’s great if you are busy, in a rush and need to grab a meal quickly. They’re also ideal to take to work with you and heat up at lunchtime — this is the real beauty of no refrigeration or freezing needed!

As you would expect, the longer you take out the plan for, the cheaper it works out for you, but to put all ball part figure on it, you’re looking at approximately £7 a day.
Conclusion
Overall, I think the DietBon weight loss meals are great if you don’t want to think about what you can and can’t eat when on a weight loss plan. Personally, for me, this is where I’ve failed in the past because it’s always felt so confusing. Having the DietBon meals there to just grab as and when I need them was perfect, especially on a busy commute day.
Despite not actively trying to lose weight when on the diet I felt good knowing that I had eaten healthily throughout the day and my new ‘figure’ wasn’t being compromised. It felt great knowing I was eating well and I felt comfortable at the end of each day — no bloating at all.
If you are happy to put the money in and this sounds like it could fit in well with your lifestyle, then I would really recommend them. The taste certainly isn’t compromised in this diet and I always looked forward to my next meal.
