A South Devon Mother's Day Treat

Being a Mum is up there as one of the hardest jobs in the world – I can confidently say this because I am one. So what better way to say thank you to your Mum this Mother’s Day by giving her a treat she really deserves?

Mother’s Day falls at a beautiful time of year. Spring is the time of year that feels like a new beginning. Flowers are starting to bloom and the nights are lighter. The promise of Summer being around the corner makes everyone that little bit cheerier. I find the whole vibe of Spring is totally different from that of any other time of year. It’s also the perfect time to have a little getaway.

South Devon is a truly stunning part of the country. We have so many wonderful holiday locations in the UK, and South Devon is one of my personal most visited. And with so much on offer, it’s the perfect place to take your Mum for a Mother’s Day treat.

Where to stay

Of course, South Devon has a multitude of accommodation options available to its visitors, but a home from home is somewhere your Mum would really appreciate. Stunning holiday cottages in South Devon are available to book all year round and make the quintessential location for a Mothers Day treat.

Holiday cottages are available all over South Devon from Torquay to Dartmouth and Salcombe to Kingsbridge – and everywhere in between. With budgets and different types of properties to suit everyone, it’s the most relaxing way to treat Mum this Mother’s Day.

What to do

There’s a multitude of things going on in South Devon for Mother’s Day this year. I’ve highlighted just a few below that you might like to consider if you are thinking of venturing that way for the weekend.

Mothering Sunday lunch at Knightshayes Court

Take Mum for Sunday lunch at the stunning Knightshayes Court in Bolham near Tiverton. Whilst there you wander the gardens and take in all of the beautiful grounds and flowers. You can then treat your Mum to a beautiful dried flower posy made from Knightshayes flowers. Sunday lunch prices are £10.95 for a regular portion and £8.95 for a small portion.

Mother’s day Cream Tea at Seaton Wetlands

For the duration of the Mother’s Day weekend, Seaton Wetlands have Cream Teas for £3 per person. The scones are handmade by Paul’s Bakery in Seaton and are served with plenty of jam and cream in the peaceful Seaton Wetlands. Gluten-free cake will be available. Please note this is cash only.

Cream Tea Cruise

If you like the sound of a cream tea but fancy something a little more extravagant, how about a cream tea cruise? Cruise along the tranquil and protected waters of the award-winning River Exe whilst enjoying a cream tea with oodles of cream and lashings of strawberry jam. Departing from Exmouth marina at 11.00, 12.30 and 14.15, this trip is the perfect way to unwind and spend some quality time together!

These are just a few of the options available to you and there is so much more. Sometimes just being away from home and having a change of scenery is enough to feel relaxed and refreshed. South Devon is such a stunning part of the UK and is the absolute ideal choice when it comes to treating your Mum this Mother’s Day.

That looks fab, love the balcony in the accommodation pictured. I’m not sure my kids would play ball with it though.
