In the words of The Boo Radleys…
Wake up its a beautiful morning,
Feel the sun shining for your eyes.
I took two days away from my blog this weekend. Two days away because I was busy enjoying what this country lacks.
It’s come to my attention this Summer that we Brits are damn near impossible to please. We are experiencing gorgeous weather at the moment. Beautiful sunshine everyday and the amount of complaints I hear about it is a little bit ridiculous.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Brits just love to have something to complain about. We don’t like the rain, it makes us miserable. We don’t like the snow, it makes getting to work dangerous and it’s too cold. We don’t like the sun because it’s too hot. Come ON people. What weather would you like?
Time for a quick disclaimer…. I’m not criticising everybody who is saying it’s too hot, I realise there are people suffering with the heat because of individual personal circumstances, and that’s fair enough. I’m talking about those people who just aren’t happy unless they’re complaining about something. And, I’ve discovered recently that there are lot of this type of people about.
We don’t get enough of this weather to spend it complaining. We spend thousands of pounds each year going to hot countries on holiday but when we get it here we grumble. Yes it’s a different kind of heat. Yes we get pesky, itchy, thunderbugs that drive us mad and yes it can get a tad unbearable at times but really, that’s the only type of Summer we get so we need to make the most of it and come on, out of the entire year, how long does it last? Not that long.
So buy yourself some sun cream, get out your best sun hat, buy yourself a fan and enjoy that big beautiful bright thing in the sky. Because it will soon be Winter and you’ll be complaining when you can’t get to work or the shops because of flooded roads or snowed in streets!
Now, can someone please pass me my sunglasses….?! 👍
