Planning an Adventurous Honeymoon

A wedding is a milestone in anybody’s life, and the honeymoon is an important part of the package. That’s why it’s so important for you to plan out a honeymoon that suits both you and your partner and which reflects what the two of you are into.

If you’re both history buffs, for example, then you’re going to want to spend some time checking out museums and other historical hotspots, and if you’re both beach lovers then you’re going to want to head somewhere for some sun, sea and sand.

But what about the adventurers, the people who feel most at home participating in extreme sports or heading off the beaten path? Luckily for you, we’ve got you covered.

Planning an Adventurous Honeymoon

1.       Go see some wildlife

Going to see some wildlife on your honeymoon is the perfect way to enjoy some of the stunning diversity that life on earth has to offer. There are literally hundreds of possible honeymoon destinations that will expose you to wildlife, and you’ll even be able to find yourself an eco-friendly operator which aims to conserve the planet and its wildlife for future generations.

2.       Go backpacking in Africa

Backpacking in Africa is another great way to see some wildlife, but you can also combine backpacking with sightseeing and historical tourism to experience a new culture up close and personal. If you want to give something back to people, you could also consider volunteering for a charity.

3.       Find a fancy Airbnb

Hotels are so 20th century. 21st-century honeymooners are increasingly turning to Airbnb to find something a little more unique than a fancy hotel. There are an art and a science to finding the best Airbnb, so be sure to spend a little time making sure that you find the perfect place for you and your partner.

4.       Take a cruise

One great way to spend some quality time with your loved one is to go on a cruise together and to see some of the worlds from the sea. In particular, we’d recommend taking a cruise to San Juan, although we should also point out that there’s no shortage of departure points and destinations for you to choose from, so no matter what you’re into, you’re sure to find something to suit you.

5.       Get spiritual in India

India is iconic as a spiritual hotbed and in fact, it’s become something of a mecca for people who are trying to find themselves or to become more spiritual. There are literally hundreds of religious sites for you to visit, as well as awesome religious festivals such as Holi and even just relaxing yoga retreats where you can spend some time meditating while getting back in touch with nature.

6.       Visit the Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are famous because of a whole bunch of different things, from the stunning diversity of their native flora and fauna to the fact that it was during a visit to the Galapagos Islands that Charles Darwin made many of the observations that led to him developing his theory of evolution. This makes it one of those rare locations that is able to mix together stunning beauty with awesome history.

7.       Check out Latin America

Latin America is arguably one of the most underrated tourist spots in the world, with something there for literally everyone. We’d recommend checking out the Nazca Lines and some of the remnants of ancient Mayan and Incan structures that are over a thousand years old.

8.       See the Northern Lights

Seeing the Northern Lights is a must on any Europe bucket list. There are plenty of places that you can see the Northern Lights from, but one of the best ways to do it is to head off to Iceland, where you can experience the Aurora Borealis up close and personal while still travelling in style and comfort. Iceland itself has plenty to offer to you too, so even if you don’t get to see the lights (which isn’t unusual as they’re weather-dependent), you’re still guaranteed a great time in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Conclusion

Now that you know just a few of the more adventurous options out there when it comes to your honeymoon, it’s over to you so that you can start to make plans and to book things in. Remember that some honeymoons take more preparation than others. If you’re going hiking for example, then you’ll also need to make sure that you have all of your gear prepared in advance.

That way, your honeymoon’s sorted and there’s one less thing for you to worry about. After all, you’ve got a wedding to plan, and the last thing that you want is to have the honeymoon hanging over you too. Luckily, this post should have shared everything you could hope to know. Good luck!
