A Guide to New Car Technology & Gadgets

Technology is evolving at an alarming rate and it seems that each week there is an incredible new gadget available. One area which has been revolutionised by technology in recent years is motoring. In addition to all the impressive in-car technology that comes with modern day vehicles, there are all kinds of fantastic gadgets and devices which you can purchase to improve your experience behind the wheel.

Here are a few of the best gadgets to consider for your vehicle.

Dash Cam

Dash cams have become hugely popular lately and it is easy to see why. These cameras constantly record the road in front of you so that if there were any kind of incident there will be a record which could help to settle a dispute or a lawsuit. In addition to this, a dash cam can also be used to improve your driving as it allows you to analyse your performance and see areas where you could improve.

Portable Coffeemaker

Many people like a fresh cup of coffee when they’ve got a journey ahead of them, but often it is difficult to make a flask in the morning or pull over for a cup. A portable coffeemaker can plug into the cigarette lighter without taking up too much room to allow you to enjoy fresh coffee without having to exit the vehicle.

Rear View Backup Camera

Get complete vision behind your vehicle with a handy rearview backup camera that is mounted to the rear license plate and is streamed to the infotainment system. This can make driving and parking much easier and safer and could stop a nasty accident from occurring. Some vehicles have this already, but an older used car from somewhere like FOW could be modernised with this gadget.

Heads-Up Display (HUD)

The majority of motorists will use some form of GPS to navigate and this is another great addition, but it can be dangerous to take your eyes off the road even for a second. A Heads-up display (HUD) projects directions along with other helpful information in your field of vision so that you can take on the information whilst still looking at the road in front of you.

Tyre Pressure Monitor

Having properly inflated tyres is crucial for safe driving and maximising fuel efficiency, yet it can be tricky to monitor the pressure and hard to know when you need to top up. A tyre pressure monitor attaches to the inlet valve and communicates to your phone via Bluetooth to tell you the current pressure and alert you when you need to top up.

These are just a few of the terrific gadgets that you can use to modernise your vehicle, but there are many more and it is exciting to see what the future will hold for car technology.
