Valentine’s Day is often a day of extremes; you either love it or hate it. Still, there is a sweet spot somewhere in between, a middle ground that many on both sides would like to achieve, and it starts with taking the day a lot less seriously.
Remember it’s only a day
As sobering as it might sound, Valentine’s Day really is just one day. It can still rain, things can still go wrong, presents can be forgotten and blunders may come aplenty. It’s how you deal with these common occurrences that matter. Do you cause an argument with your partner if they mess up the big meal, or do you laugh it off and order a takeaway instead?
Valentine’s Day is a celebration of one another, and you don’t need lavish gifts and perfect circumstances to celebrate that fact.
Incorporate some humour
Like Christmas and all the New Year’s sales, Valentine’s Day is also yet another marketeer’s dream. You needn’t fall into this trap. If you’re someone who is sad about spending Valentine’s Day alone, count your blessings that you don’t need to splash out on a partner and fire a missile at your bank account!
If you do have significant others, you can take Valentine’s Day less seriously by incorporating a bit of humour. Affordable and comedy themed Valentine’s Day cards are available over at Card Factory, so don’t hesitate to make a mockery of the day itself. When things are taken less seriously, good times are guaranteed.
Celebrate the good times
In 2016, it was reported that 1/5 of UK couples were having issues and considering splitting up permanently. If you have a partner, hopefully, you’re not in this boat, and if you’re not in this boat, take solace in that. Valentine’s Day can be used to be even more cheerful and friendly with loved ones, a celebration of how far you’ve come and how far you’ll go in the future too.
By taking things less seriously, you may be making your relationships stronger, and if you’re single, you could be improving your chances to find love again.
