Gifts, with love from NYC…

There are two things that have been at the top of my shopping list of things to get from New York and when my Sister recently went I knew she wouldn’t let me down.

One was a Medium Brown Bag shopper from Bloomingdale’s. I had the Little Brown Bag years ago (bought from eBay obviously!), and I found it so useful that I always fancied the bigger one so that I could use it on a day-to-day basis. The design, based on Bloomingdale’s’ iconic brown paper bags, has been famous for years and features in many a film and tv show.

The second was a New York snow globe. If you read My New York Dream post that I wrote for my Sister’s arrival in the city that never sleeps, you may have noticed a cryptic little message at the end about a snow globe. She knew exactly what that meant if nobody else did.

For years and years and years I have wanted one. My love for the city that I’ve not even been to yet began many, many moons ago when as a single girl I fell in love with four girls from Manhattan and the fabulous show in which they appeared. My love for Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda and too of course the very place in which Sex and The City is set, has stayed true until this very day and I am regularly known to be watching the DVD’s of the series or the films. Call it my secret single behaviour (you can have that when you’re not single, right?!!)

Anyway, I digress. The snow globe. There is one particular episode where Carrie starts and ends the show looking at and playing with her beautiful New York snow globe and from the moment I saw that, I needed one. I can’t tell you why because I don’t know. I just knew I needed one and it was only going to come from one place. Not eBay!!

When my Sister told me she was going to the Big Apple she knew what her first mission would be and she didn’t let me down. Now I can sit in my window and watch the sun shine through the New York snowflakes as I watch them land on the tiny Statue of Liberty and New York City taxi cab. I can dream easier for a little longer. My New York Dream.

I’m hugely grateful to my Sister for the gifts. Now those two things are bought, when I do get there now I can concentrate on the shoe shopping list. Because that won’t be a big list at all will it…..?! 😉
