Angle irons aren’t made of iron, although this word is in the name. This versatile item, made using galvanized steel, is used in many construction projects today. The steel is molded to form a right triangle with legs of equal or differing lengths. The perpendicular legs add strength and rigidity, making this component ideal for framing, bracing, or general support.

Why Galvanized Steel?

Manufacturers typically use galvanized steel when producing an Angle Iron because it resists oxidation and rusting. When galvanizing the steel, the manufacturer dips the angle iron in zinc. The zinc is what prevents corrosion and rusting. If the zinc and steel remain coupled, the steel is protected, even if all or part of the zinc wears off.
