4 Ways to Treat Yourself After a Busy Week

Being a parent is the definition of busy. Cooking, cleaning, potty training, helping with homework, housework, Dr’s appointments, home admin, getting everyone to where they need to be…the list goes on and on. And although we wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the entire world, sometimes even the most unfazed of parents need to sit down and catch their breath.

It’s not easy, mainly because we’re not used to putting our feet up and also because the kids seemingly need us the moment we sit down! So, what can you do to treat yourself after a busy week? Well, there’s nothing a weekend away in Italy won’t fix – check out this website for the latest opera ticket prices – but it might be a bit of a logical and financial nightmare…but don’t worry. You don’t have to jet off to a foreign country to relax and treat yourself.

Check out these 4 ways you can spoil yourself after a busy week.

Get a massage

Sure, a weekend away at a Spa and hotel sounds like it would cure everything. But you can still get plenty of rest and relaxation without packing an overnight bag. Check out your local beauty parlour or spa and see what day packages they have available; you can enjoy the facilities or just book yourself a nice 20-minute shoulder and neck massage. Having all the tension and knots pushed, massaged and popped out of your body will make you feel like you can take on anything.

Catch up on your favourite show in peace

Is there one night a week where your partner goes out for the evening or works late? Well, instead of tackling that mountain of ironing after the kids have gone to bed, use your free time (yes, you have free time!) to catch up on a movie you didn’t quite finish or that TV show that everyone is talking about. Gather up your favourite snacks, pour yourself a drink or make a nice cup of tea and get pulled in.

Buy yourself a treat

Who doesn’t love spoiling their children? Whether it’s a pack of sweeties with the weekly shop or a magazine that you think that they might like. Well, why not get yourself a treat for a change? A gorgeous mug you’ve spotted in the homewares section, that candle you’ve been desperate to purchase, or a big chocolate bar that you haven’t had in ages! Make sure you hide that one from the kids!

Meet with a friend

When was the last time you saw your best friend? Modern life makes it difficult to meet up with our nearest and dearest, so make the effort to clear a space in your busy schedules and catch up over a cup of tea/coffee and something sweet. They can come to your house after the kids have gone to bed or you could both meet at a local coffee house. You might even get to have a proper grown-up conversation without worrying that your youngest is going to climb onto the table…
