Despite it feeling like it’s been the longest winter ever and it feeling so cold for so long. Seeing the daffodils sprouting up outside and the realisation that very soon the clocks will go forward meaning we have lighter nights and longer days, Spring really is just around the corner (she says with great hope!).
I’ve written here about how to make your home cosy for Winter but now it’s time to move with the seasons and concentrate on a Spring home makeover.
Change your flooring
Carpets and rugs are wonderful in the Winter, but have you ever thought about how easy laminate flooring could be for the Spring months, and into the Summer for that matter? Easy to keep clean. Cool on your feet during the warmer months, and perfectly coverable with rugs when it gets colder. It could be the perfect time of year to invest in the new flooring and not to mention how sleek and smart it looks. Go for a lighter colour to really open your room up and embrace the Springtime.
There’s no need for heavy curtains during the Springtime. With lighter nights, it’s nice to keep that sunshine seeping into your living room for a little longer. Include changing your cosy Winter drapes in your Spring home makeover for some lighter fabric with more of a Spring vibe. Or you could even change them for blinds. A sure-fire way to let more light into your rooms. Ice cream colours are big this year. As are golds and indigo blues. I’m feeling warmer already.
Change cushions and lampshades
If you’re going to change your curtains, you might want to think about changing your cushions and lampshades to match. You don’t need to have matching patterns but keep the same colour scheme and everything will compliment each other. You can always check online to see what the latest Spring trends are.
The Easter holidays are the perfect opportunity to try and have a bit of a clear out. Sometimes, all you need to make your home feel like new again is go through each room and be really strict. Do you really need it? Have you used it in the last six months? Are you likely to use it within the next six months? If the answer is no, get rid. You’ll be surprised how cleansing a good clear out can be.
This one is a no-brainer really. I just love picking up a couple of bunches of daffodils and watching them bloom over the next few days. Daffodils, to me, are happiness in a vase. Daffodils in one corner and Tulips in the other. It’s a sure fire way to brighten up any living room.
How do you get your home ready for the warmer months? Will you be having a Spring home makeover this year? Let me know in the comments.
