White kitchen cabinets have always had a certain appeal to Americans. They look so simple and clean – and everyone gets a certain sense of tranquillity when it comes to walking in such a clear white kitchen.
However, colour can also be a person’s best friend – particularly if you go for the right colours. The perfect combinations will highlight the pieces that you have in your kitchen – and will also say a lot about the way you are as a person.
So, here are a few colour combos that might work for you. Choose based on your personality and the shades you like the most.
- Leaf Green and White
Alright, we’ve mentioned before that we want to move past the white – but this doesn’t mean that it can’t be in the colour scheme. You just can’t leave it flying solo – and a good idea here would be to mix it with some leafy green. This will give you that eco, nature vibe that you might be looking for.
For example, you can paint your kitchen walls green to serve as a perfect backdrop for your white Lovech cabinets. You can also try a mix of white and green cabinets – if you feel like the “all white” is too much for you. Mix the white and green in a way that they complement each other.
- Midnight Black and Bright Red
This intense colour combo is once more very popular among those that love dramatic designs. Plus, since both colours are equally intense, the effect will be balanced. You might want to try adding some black cabinets – and in the middle of the kitchen, place a red island. It will look fabulous, and it will mix well with the rest of the scene.
- Sage Green and Barn Red
Want to go for a more traditional look? Go for a barn red and sage green colour combination. It will make the place look more tranquil – making your kitchen appear all warm and cosy. Instead of diving into an all-white, boring kitchen that looks like a hospital, you will be entering something that seems familiar – even connected to nature.
Make sure that you use the softer, more muted colours – otherwise, you might just end up turning it into Santa’s kitchen. Pastels and wood finishes should be able to warm up the overall place as well.
- Ocean Blue and White
The blue and white combo is very popular when it comes to kitchens. Ideally, you may want to go for the blue below, white above combo – to give off the impression that the ocean is meeting the sky.
Paint the walls white, as a base in which it all mixes – and then move onto purchasing the cabinets. Get some white cabinets to place them above – and some blue ones to install below. This colour combo will add to the gentle, relaxing mood of your kitchen.
- Matte Black, Gray, and Gold
Once more, this is a very popular colour combo – mostly because of the sexy and elegant feeling that it gives off. You may paint the walls a light grey, and top everything off with black flooring and counters. These two will blend in perfectly and efficiently, adding further on to the elegance of your kitchen.
To add an elegant splash of colour to your kitchen, you might also want to cover the bottom of the cabinets overhead with mirror-like gold material. This should make any kitchen look fabulous – but only as long as the details are subtle.
You can also add a few gold frames on the wall. With the black and the grey, these accents should pop out and make your kitchen look brilliant.
The Bottom Line
In the end, it is all a matter of personal preferences. If you are a fan of green and red, make your kitchen green and red. If you like black and red, then make it black with a splash of red. It all depends on your taste.
Bear in mind that you should never mix more than two colours – or at least no more than two bright colours and a monochrome one to add some highlights. There’s a fine line between classy colour combos and just bad taste.
