There comes a time in our parenting lives that we need to find trustworthy and reliable childcare and it can sometimes be a struggle to know where to begin looking.
Sadly, we live in a day and age where not everybody we know and meet can be trusted and our children’s safety and welfare is something that we can’t afford a lapse with.
I was asked recently to take a look at childcare.co.uk, a website that claims to be the easy way to find local childcare. I was interested to take a look and am happy to report my findings back to my readers, in case you too, have the same issue as I do when it comes to finding trustworthy and reliable childcare.

What does childcare.co.uk offer?
When you say the word ‘childcare’, let’s be honest, it can cover a whole range of requirements. On first glance at the childcare.co.uk website, it was good to see that a whole host of options are available. These include:
- Nanny
- Childminder
- Babysitter
- Private midwife
- Au pair
- Nursery
- Nursery nurse
- Maternity nurse
- Household helpers
- Schools
If you want to do a quick search to see what the availability is like in your area, you can do so without signing up. So there is no commitment to the site straight away. I did a quick search for my area and was impressed with the number of results that came up. For the sake of this review, I tried a few different childcare categories and was equally impressed each time.

Registering to use the site is really easy and just requires the usual details you would expect. It also gives you the option to choose when you are most likely to need childcare, and this can be amended at any time.

On doing a search for babysitters in my area, it brought back a result of 53 to choose from! These appear to be sorted by distance, the closest being at the top of the list. Each childcare specialist has a profile that you can view and get a detailed picture of what they are all about. The profile also includes their usual availability and their fees, which is good to see from the start in my opinion.
Reviews are also available to view on the profile and you can even contact the reviewer (as it links directly back to their profile) if you want further reassurance, (this feature does require a gold membership, see more about this below). You can, of course, contact the specialist directly to make any enquiries you have as well as any questions. It all feels very easy and informative the more you look around the site.

Gold membership
Gold membership unlocks a whole host of extras on the childcare.co.uk website. These are as follows:
- You can contact any member on the website and have access to all members contact details
- Free online magazine
- Access to online guides and activity resources
- Free kids pass worth up to £75 year
- Discounts on a variety of restaurants
- Free tastecard which offers half-price deals on days out and cinema and so much more
My thoughts?
I am almost seven years into my parenting journey and thankfully, so far, I have been able to rely on family and friends to look after my little boy when needed. However, I know there is likely to come a time when I will need to source alternatives and it’s really handy to know that this website is available and that it’s really easy to use.
I like that you can read reviews and make contact with the childcare specialists to make enquiries without committing. I also love that there is an app available. We spend so much time on our phones these days that to have access to this information in our pockets is really, very handy.
Overall, I’m really impressed with childcare.co.uk and will definitely bear it in mind in the future if I need to find myself some trustworthy and reliable childcare.
