Getting Through It: 5 of the Challenges of Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time in a mother’s life that she is not ever likely to forget. Your baby is growing within you, and you are the person with whom they are forming an attachment that is unique and special. Your feeling of closeness with your baby is not going to be quite like your relationship with anyone else, and you’re probably eager to meet them as you progress through the trimesters. Still, there are some aspects of pregnancy that are undeniably challenging. Here are five of the reasons you’ll be glad when it’s over.

The Changes to Your Body

There’s no way around it: pregnancy does a number on your body. Sometimes your extremities swell, and your feet in particular. There’s that noticeable baby belly, and if you had a previously svelte physique, then you might be less than happy about it. Sometimes pregnant women experience strange or vivid dreams, and cramps and hormonal mood swings are also part of the package.

Morning Sickness

Morning sickness is also not uncommon, especially in the first trimester. It’s no fun, particularly if you can’t hold anything substantial down or the smell of certain foods nauseates you. Not all women experience it, but those that do report that it is one of the most unpleasant periods during the nine months that must be endured.

No Alcohol

Maybe you enjoyed having a couple of beers with friends, a glass of wine with dinner, or a margarita on Taco Tuesday. You should avoid any alcohol consumption while you are carrying a child, so seeing your friends imbibe when you have to sit out can be annoying. Hopefully, if your spouse or partner is in the picture, then they will show solidarity with you by not drinking during the nine months as well.

Reduced Exercise

If you’re an exercise fanatic, then you’ll be sad to know that what you can do is reduced the further along you get in your pregnancy. It’s true that there are some exercises and classes you can take that are specifically intended for pregnant women, like certain forms of yoga. You should seek those out to get your fitness to fix the closer you get to the due date.

The Last Few Weeks

Toward the end of the ninth months, you’ll probably be more than ready for the big event. You’ll never miss a contraction with Bloomlife, and that will let you know when the baby is coming, but up until that moment, you might feel like a balloon about to pop. That’s going to be the case even more if the baby isn’t out by the due date, a not uncommon occurrence.

Mothers experience pregnancy differently, and there are some that have a remarkably easy time with it, while for others it is the opposite. Whichever the case is with you, once the baby is born you will surely feel that all of the discomforts have been worth it. You have brought a miraculous new life into the world, and you can bestow all of your love on this latest member of the family.
