If you’re anything like me, you probably have a drawer full of jewellery and rarely ever wear any of it – I’m guilty as charged of this! Many of which are sentimental and some are just odd pieces I’ve picked up over the years and, if I’m honest, forgotten about.
In this article, we’re going to look at some clever ways that you can reinvent your jewellery and style it up in a new way.
Mix metals
Yes, you did read that correctly. Once upon a time, not that long ago, this would have been seen as a bit of a fashion faux pas, but not anymore.
Thankfully, this is no longer a fashion ‘rule’ (not that I think there should be any rules!) so it’s time to mix up your silver chains and your gold pendants.
You’ll even find pieces that have mixed metal colours in them these days, so it’s definitely the way forward – and it means you don’t have to choose between your favourites – win, win!
Create layers
As we’re talking about mixing things up, let’s talk layering.
Not all chains, bracelets and rings have to be the same size and texture. It goes without saying that necklaces can look pretty fab when they’re different lengths. Bangles can look beautiful when you mix up different style and rings are seriously eye-catching when you mix them up and stack them. The great thing about this is that you can create a different look every day with the same pieces too. No day needs to be the same!
Just don’t go too far
It’s worth bearing in mind that you can be at risk of going too far with this. For example, if you’ve layered your chains and have the look down to a fine art, you don’t really need to do the same with your wrist jewellery, do you know what I mean?
Just make sure you look in the mirror before you leave and ask yourself ‘is this too much’? You’ll know at first glance.
But hey, if you like it and you can rock it, go for it! There shouldn’t be any rules, remember!
Extend your wardrobe
Have you ever tried putting on the most basic of outfits and then adding the magic touch? Try it today.
Try grabbing a pair of jeans with a plain top and then grab various pieces of your favourite jewellery. Try out different combinations that you wouldn’t normally even think of wearing together and see what happens. Think outside the box too – hair accessories, or scarves and don’ forget a watch. See what happens, you might be surprised.
Have fun
Above anything, just have fun with it. As I’ve already said, there shouldn’t be any rules and each and every one of us in unique and so should our style. Don’t get caught up with trends and what you should and shouldn’t be wearing according to the fashion magazines. You do you. The rest will follow.
