The beauty of having children is getting to embrace the magic that comes with them. From Father Christmas to the Easter Bunny, I never get tired of seeing the excitement light up in my Little Man’s eyes as he sees the magic unfold before him.
Lots of children embrace the tales of fairies at the bottom of the garden and many spend hours listening to stories, reading stories, drawing pictures and even looking for them, with the hope that one day they will see them before their very eyes.
Recently I was given the opportunity to invite a fairy to stay in our very own home – the child in me was beyond excited at the thought! The Irish Fairy Door Company produce Fairy Doors that can be put anywhere in the home – and indeed the garden, so that your very own fairy has their own access to their new home!

Each fairy door comes with a magic key in a bottle, three stepping stones, the Family/Fairy Lease Agreement, a notepad for the fairy and the Fairy Welcome Guide! Once you register the fairy’s name on The Fairy Workplace Log on the website, they send you exclusive stories and play ideas on a weekly basis.
The Little Man couldn’t believe his luck when I showed him. When asked, he named his fairy and we set to attaching the fairy door to the wall, just outside his bedroom door.
We left the teeny tiny, ridiculously cute key in a bottle outside the fairy door and signed the lease agreement (this is a serious commitment you understand!) We left her a welcome note in the hope she would leave one back. Now, all we had to do was wait until morning to see if she would move in overnight.
Let’s just say that at the crack of dawn the following morning I was woken to the sound of a little voice saying “Mummy, Mummy! The key has gone! She’s moved in!”. Needless to say, I was dragged from my bed and I stumbled and bumbled along in a sleepy state to witness the magic for myself. And sure enough, he was right. The key was gone and in its place was an empty bottle and a thank you note – in the smallest of handwriting!
The magic had arrived.
His little face was a picture. This is such a great gift for children! With the Irish Fairy Door, we don’t need to wait until Christmas or Easter for there to be a bit of magic in the air. We can have it daily. All we have to do is believe! And as long as we believe then the magic is here to stay. ?
