Why We All Have Unspoken Comforts

Everyone has their own little comforts, even if they don’t talk about them much. They’re the small things you look forward to at the end of a long day, like habits that help you unwind, for example, or just your own routines that make things feel a bit less chaotic and more manageable. Most of the time we don’t actually realise quite how much we rely on them, but we all have them anyway, and with that in mind, keep reading to find out more.

The Power Of Familiar Routines

Think about what you do when you get home – maybe you make a cup of tea, scroll on your phone, put on a familiar TV programme, put your PJs on, sit in the same chair every evening, and so on. True, these routines might seem quite normal and even boring, but they give you a good sense of stability in life, and when life can be so unpredictable, that’s massively important. In other words, you’re doing these things to let your brain know it’s all okay, even if the day wasn’t so great – it’s fine now, and you can relax.

Small Comforts In A Busy World

Modern life is… well, it’s a lot of things, but it tends to be loud, fast, and everyone always seems to be demanding something of you. And that’s why small comforts matter so much, like a good, soft blanket, your favourite snacks, certain playlists, or even just moments by yourself.

Of course, we’re not saying these things can fix it all and make everyone one hundred percent okay, but they can help you feel more like yourself again, and sometimes it really is the simple stuff that works best.

Personal Preferences We Don’t Always Share

Some comforts are personal, and people don’t always talk about them, and that could be for all kinds of reasons. Maybe you like to journal, for example, or perhaps you like a late night walk, or maybe you get a lot of comfort from listening to the same song on repeat (for hours).

For some people, their preference might be to use things like CBD from Natural Strains to help them relax more in the evenings. Or it could be herbal tea that’s your thing, or a special skin care routine. The point is, you don’t have to share everything, and if it works for you, that’s enough – no one else has to know.

Give Yourself Permission To Enjoy It

A lot of people really do feel very guilty about comfort – they think they should be more productive, more ambitious, or trying to improve themselves in some way all the time.

But the fact is that taking time to enjoy small comforts isn’t a lazy thing to do; it actually makes your life more balanced, and that’s going to improve how you feel and what you do. You don’t have to justify what you do to anyone as long as what you’re doing helps you feel okay.
