The Perfect Night In With The Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa

The Perfect Night In With The Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa

It’s no secret that for me, the perfect night these days is no longer going out on the town and partying the night away. I’ve spoken frequently recently about how I love a night in and no night in is complete without good food. Tell me, what is better than a pizza night and your favourite film or box set? Recently my pizza night was pretty special when I tried the Limited Edition Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa from Dr. Oetker.

Takeaway Versus Frozen

Don’t get me wrong. I love getting a takeaway delivered, just as much as the next person. There’s something about making a phone call and then a little while later your food is brought to your door. But when it comes to pizza, I really begrudge spending the money that the big names charge, for a pizza that I can never finish.

This is why I always resort to either making my own (a good tip if you have a child who is a fussy eater!) or buying in my favourite frozen pizza that takes no time at all to cook and is ready when I want it.

Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa

As I mentioned earlier, the Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa from Dr Oetker is a Limited Edition pizza and is different from any Italian delight I’ve ever tried before.

What Dr, Oetker says

The UK’s number one thin and crispy pizza brand*, Dr. Oetker Ristorante is proud to present the Pizza Bianca Deliciosa, boasting tempting toppings and exquisite flavours. This limited edition flavour combines fresh ingredients to produce a unique Italian pizza. The trend for white pizzas is on the rise and Bianca Deliciosa is a great addition to the Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza menu.

The Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa (MRRP of £3.19) is topped with delicious bacon, creamy white sauce, red onion, mozzarella and Edam cheeses, all coming together on a deliciously thin and crispy base.

I was most excited to try a pizza that didn’t have a tomato sauce base. Pretty much every pizza you come across these days have either tomato or barbecue sauces on them and whilst this is fine, it tends to get a little bit samey. The idea of having a pizza with a white sauce was refreshing and I very much liked the sound of it.

I mean come on, white sauce, bacon, onion and cheese. It sounded too good to be true. But I can assure you it wasn’t.

You never really know whether frozen food items are going to look quite as good when they’re cooked as they do on the front of the box, but I think you’ll agree that this isn’t a bad match at all. The ingredients were well spaced out and didn’t require any rearranging like some other brands do when you peel away the plastic.

It was good to go in the oven straight away, which is great. No one wants to be faffing with their food before cooking it. You may as well just make your own if you’re going to do that. The pizza took just fifteen minutes to cook in a preheated oven and the smell whilst it was in there didn’t disappoint either.

So, what did I think?

As you can see, it looks delicious. It smelt just as good too. And I can now say, it tasted pretty damn fine as well.

The base was the perfect thickness for me. Deep pan bases fill me up far too quickly so the thin and crispy base and me are a match made in pizza heaven. It wasn’t too crispy either. No one wants to feel like they’re going to break a tooth on a pizza base, so this was great.

The cheeses complimented the white sauce brilliantly. I was concerned that because it was quite creamy, it might be a bit sickly after a couple of slices, but it really wasn’t. The bacon was the perfect topping and whilst the onion tickled the taste buds, it wasn’t onion overkill. That gets bonus points for me alone.

I’ll be honest. I planned on having half of it and saving the rest for later. Cold pizza is good, right? But before I knew what had happened, I had eaten all of the pizza and was well into a second episode of Friends on Netflix. Whoops!

Save the pennies

Next time you want a pizza night, instead of ordering in, I would definitely suggest buying a few frozen pizzas. It will save you a small fortune, and if you are tired of tomato and barbecue pizzas and fancy trying something different I would definitely urge you to try a white pizza such as this one. I’m pretty certain you won’t be disappointed.

The limited edition Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa is currently available in Asda, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.

Have you tried the Ristorante Pizza Bianca Deliciosa or another ‘white pizza’? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

Not tried this brand but I am totally with you that takeaway pizza is so pricey compared with frozen or make your own for that matter. Just need to convince my teenager of that! #AnythingGoes
