It’s been a funny old few weeks in terms of weather. Let’s face it, Summer was amazing. I had to buy so many new clothes because I just didn’t have enough in my wardrobe to cope with the heat. I found myself buying a few maxi dresses, skirts and wide leg trousers. They were the only thing I could stay cool in.
The temperatures have slowly dropped over the last few weeks and now it feels like I have a wardrobe full of clothes that can’t be worn – or can they?
A new take on Summer clothes
The answer is, yes they can. It’s quite easy to take you Summer clothes into Autumn if you give it a bit of time and thought. I’m going to give you a couple of ideas today that will hopefully have you reaching for your maxi skirts instead of putting them away until next Summer.
I should point out that I had every intention of showing off these outfits with some lovely photos taken surrounded by autumnal leaves, however, the British weather had something to say about that and so we have some cute flat lays instead. Oh, the irony!
Wide leg trousers
There is absolutely nothing to say that you can’t continue to wear your wide leg trousers into the Autumn months. All you have to do is find your favourite pair of heeled boots and team it with a cute slogan tee. Or even a woolly jumper will look cute. Throw on a classic leather jacket and you are warm enough to embrace the colder mornings. This would look super trendy on the school run.
Maxi skirts and dresses
Maxi skirts and dresses are very similar to wide leg trousers. We can wear skirts all year round, we don’t just have to stick to the Summer months. And let’s face it, it will be refreshing to wear them without suffering from that horrible ‘chub rub’! I decided to put the skirt with some classic Adidas trainers and a cosy soft jumper for a more casual look. However, you could easily wear either ankle boots or knee-high boots with this style.
Don’t keep your dresses at the back of the wardrobe either this Autumn. You can put a jumper or shirt over the top of your dress and immediately transform the outfit, whilst giving yourself an extra layer of warmth at the same time.
Jeans – a great all rounder!
I don’t know about you but I carried on wearing my jeans through the Summer. They are my most worn item of clothing and I have far too many in my wardrobe – far more than I actually need. But think about mixing it up this Autumn and wear them with something that you may not have considered before – a denim shirt!
Now some of you might be screaming ‘What?!’ at your screens right now but bear with me. Double denim might scream late 80’s early 90’s to you but trust me on this one. The right jeans, with the right denim shirt with the right boots can look really classy. If you’re not confident enough to go all blue, try black jeans or even white because white jeans aren’t only for the Summer either.
So there we have it. A few exciting ideas for you to think about if you aren’t quite ready to kiss goodbye to your Summer wardrobe just yet. Summer into Autumn fashion is quite easy when you think about it. Replace bare legs with tights if you feel the cold more than others and really, anything is possible. Just don’t forget your scarf – the perfect finishing touch to any Autumn outfit!
