Mumbai has everything that you could think of. It has the slums that you might picture when you think of it, but it also has fancy hotels. You get to see both sides of life when visiting the city that was once called Bombay.

Mumbai’s Art and Heritage

Known as a city of heritage, Mumbai has vast amounts of architecture and much of it is vintage in style, there are many, many museums and galleries in nestled within the city that it can be quite overwhelming if you are not expecting it.

To help you narrow it down the National Gallery of Modern Art should be at the top of your list. The Sakshi Art Gallery and the Jehangir Art Gallery will also not disappoint you.

Vintage Mumbai Shouldn’t be Missed

You must include visiting the famous sites in your trip, such as Churchgate and the Rajabai Clock Tower. The iconic Indian city has a fabulous collection of British style architecture that should be marvelled if the opportunity arises.

Take a Stroll Down Marine Drive

To get to know the locals Mumbai locals you should take a stroll down Marine Drive. Marine Drive is mostly known for its stunning views of the skyscrapers and the sea. Visiting in the early hours will allow you to see a mesmerising sunrise and later on the sunset of all sunsets.

Take the Film tour

Bollywood was born in Mumbai and so you really should consider going on a Film City tour whilst you are there.  There are tour packages available that take up a whole day and will let you visit iconic film locations, and you might even get to see some films being made as well.

Experience Mumbai Nightlife

Mumbai is the place to be on a Friday night. Check out some of the top nightclubs, such as Tryst, The Wine Rack, Trilogy, Blue Frog, and Kaama.

Chill Out at Bandra Bandstand

One of the best places to enjoy relaxing in Mumbai is the Bandra Bandstand. Think of a seaside promenade surrounded by palm trees with a gentle breeze. You may even catch a glimpse of a few Bollywood stars!

Mumbai Street Food

You can’t visit Mumbai and not taste the street food that is readily available. Try all of the really popular foods like Bombay Sandwich and Ragda Pattice. Also make sure you take a taste of Vada Pav, Batata Vada, Misal Pav, Sev Puri and Bhel Puri.

Travel by local train

Local trains can be a bit intimidating. Having said that, it is something that you should try and take to try and get acquainted with the day to day life of a Mumbai citizen. Can you believe that people use the journey to complete daily tasks, such as preparing vegetables?! You wouldn’t see that on the London Underground!

If the thought un-nerves you, try using the train during the quieter hours of between 1 and 4 pm. You can also choose to travel first class which will be less crowded.

Accommodation in Mumbai doesn’t need to be expensive and it is easy to find hotels in Mumbai with price that is affordable but comfortable during your trip. Couple this with this list of things to do and you are sure to have the trip of a lifetime.
