I’ve got to say that I’m super pleasantly surprised. This blog is a little over three years old and I’ve been coming and going and never had the time to stay long enough to get involved with the networking side of blogging. I say not had the time and this is true, but if I’m completely honest, in the past, I’ve also been a little intimidated by the whole community that blogging thrives in. I mentioned in one of my recent posts ‘Why I write this blog…‘ how it can be easy to compare your blogs to those more established and end up feeling a little deflated when you realise how much work is involved, but over the last couple of weeks I have majorly turned a corner.
I’ve taken the time to really engage. I’ve done my research, I’ve joined blogger community websites. I’ve taken part in Twitter chats and finally got chatting to other bloggers just like me. Yes. JUST LIKE ME! Who’d have thought it?!
I once envisioned – and don’t laugh – that blogger communities might be a bit ‘back seat of the bus bitchy’. Don’t take it personally. It was an assumption, and an incorrect one at that I hasten to add….! You know what I mean. A bunch of girls together isn’t always a good thing. And I know, I know, not all bloggers are girls but primarily the chats I’ve been involved in have been 90% female attendance. So when you get a crowd of girls together in a room there’s every chance it could get a little bitchy along the way. But listen up guys…
I WAS WRONG.
You lot are frickin awesome. I’ve had a blast over the last few days. I’ve got advice, taken tips (and made them work). Got new followers. Engaged in some great inspiring chats and quite possibly, have made some friends.
So. I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you. Thank you to all my new followers – and the old ones of course – for welcoming me in with open arms and not making me feel silly, for inspiring me and encouraging me to keep at it, and most of all for making me feel like part of the gang. I’ve never been in a gang before and I have to say, this one’s a pretty cool one to be in.
