Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning under the amount of kid’s toys we have in our house, but when the opportunity to test out something new comes along, I have the inability to say ‘no’. Especially when it’s something construction related such as this Zoob Junior 30 piece set.
The Little Man loves building things and taking them apart again so I was really interested to see how he would like this set. This Zoob Junior set is aimed at 4 – 6-year-olds and so he is just the right age to try it out.
How does it work?
The full Zoob set consists of 30 pieces that fit and slot together in various different ways to make a wide range of different things. It also comes with illustrated instructions for 20 different models to get started with, but obviously, the idea is that when you have got used to them, you can make anything you like!
We started with some of the simpler Zoob models, to begin with, and then moved on to some of the more complicated ones. I helped obviously but Little Man soon got used to how the pieces fit together and soon together we were making the various different models and he was choosing which we were going to do next.
What I like about this set is that is can be used with all of the other Zoob sets that are available and so it can be added to over the course of time. There are other Zoob construction kits available for older kids, so this doesn’t need to be looked at as a toy for just a couple of years. As Little Man gets older, he can add to this with the kits for older kids and the things he could be building will reach another level.
What’s also great about this is that because of the way the pieces fit together – they can move. We made a spinning top when we first played with them – and it actually did spin! The people you make have moving limbs and the animals you make can move into different positions. The possibilities are endless. Take a quick look at this Zoob video to see more.
What did we think?
It’s safe to say that the Little Man loves this Zoob set and it has become a regular part of playtime. I love the carry case that it comes in as it also means that the pieces can be cleared away very quickly, which as parents we all know is a godsend. And they don’t even take up much room – an added bonus.
