The Music To The Story Of My Life – Pam’s Bake And Baby Blog

Hello! Welcome to another instalment in The Music To The Story Of My Life series! This week Pam, who blogs over at Pam’s Bake & Baby Blog is telling us all about the music that would feature in a film of her life, and the reasons why.

About Pam’s Bake And Baby Blog

My name’s Pam and I write a blog over at www.pamsbakeandbabyblog.com – imaginative name eh?! I started blogging after finding that I was being asked more and more for my family recipes and I really enjoyed sharing the funny side to parenting.  I am a mum to two toddlers and wife to a gorgeously funny guy. I work full time in the rail industry and writing is the other love of my life.

The tracks that would need to be included in a film of my life would be;

Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers – Rock n Roll Party Mix

This song is everything about my childhood with my mum. Dancing round the kitchen, having fun and being silly. Music was always a way to shake off a bad mood or just to liven up an afternoon.

Ultra Nate – Free

This forever reminds me of my childhood best friend. We were so close that our parents used to take the other with them on family holidays. One year we played this tape on repeat on our Walkmans (we used to synchronise pressing play so we could sing along at the same time with our headphones in) as we did a loop the loop rollercoaster at Butlins while trying to look cool in front of floppy-haired boys. #cringe

Linkin Park – One Step Closer

This was out the year I turned 16. I loved the release this song could give when you screamed it out.

DJ Sammy – Heaven

I liked this song a lot. Until I shared a flat with 7 other girls at Uni and it was played in repeat for 6 months straight. I still remember threatening to go and snap the CD if it was on again. Will always remind me of my Uni days – for better or worse!

Idlewild – Roseability

I have been with my husband since I was 17. He had a huge influence on my musical education as he opened me up to bands I’d never heard of – I’m a dance girl at heart! This track reminds me of drives back from the cinema in his ancient Ford Escort when you still had cassettes in the car!

Swedish House Mafia – Save the World

My brother is 8 years younger than me  and I have always been the one to take him to gigs. I took him to his first festival at T in the Park back in 2009. We both have the same love of music and this song will forever remind me of standing in a field a bit worse for wear, belting this song out and dancing ’til dawn!

Josh Rouse – Love Vibration

This should have been our wedding song. It is most definitely “our song” but we were too scared of trying to dance to it so we went for a safer option – Elbow, On a Day Like This. Always wish we had just gone for it and danced around like eijits.

Jack Savoretti – Dr Frankenstein

My favourite song of all time is this one. The lyrics are really powerful and it comes from an amazing album that we have listened to while going through many things.

Calvin Harris – My Way

I have installed the same love of music in my kids that my mum gave me. If this track comes on then they go wild. They sing/shout along to the whole things and it makes my heart happy.

Bon Jovi – It’s my Life

It wouldn’t be a list of music to the story of my life without some Bon Jovi. I have seen him in concert 3 times and just absolutely love him.  Some people have music snobbery over him but it is feel-good soft rock/pop at it’s best. Who hasn’t belted out one of his tracks at a pub karaoke?
